Thanks bertwert! It's the widest lens I own and I primarily I bought it for the K-1's astrophotography mode.

I shot some more with it last week. Of course it's mid-winter Down Under and the sun is pretty directional at latitude 35 S.

This first shot shows the pretty appalling flare/highlight resistance. Shooting RAW (as always) I have done no PP except for inclusion of the lens profile from the Irix website.

The second shot is with PP in Lightroom and any later photos in this and subsequent posts will have PP. The subject is the Skyspace at our National Gallery, one of many Skyspaces created by renowned US artist James Turrell. I love shooting the various angles and subtle colour and tones that his Skyspace creates.

My first shots with the above combo. Some of them are slightly cropped, due to some inadvertent vignetting to bottom left and top right, caused by the hood being insufficiently rotated (locked).

These three shots at, or close to, minimum focus distance. f5 for the last shot.

Welcome to the forum.

I'm too recent a member to have known your dad, however I can see from the entries above that he was much respected and valued.

Good luck with learning more from this forum about shooting your legacy camera.

Your dad's legacy lives on with that alphabet photo thread he started and that was linked by someone in an earlier reply. I've just posted to it for the first time myself: 'J' on the current page - 2553(?).

I have too many camera systems I like to shoot with, so I can't afford to pay the prices of new Pentax zooms, however good they may be.

I shoot a K-1 and my first dedicated lens purchase for it worked out great for me: it's a second-hand
Tamron APO XR Di 28-75 f/2.8 and it cost me about $400.

I also love shooting the FA31 and FA77 primes in particular, although each of those cost nearly double the Tamron price.

Recently I also bought a mint condition Sigma DG APO 70-200 f/2.8 lens for about $400; not sure which version except that it's one of the older non-macro versions. I'm very happy with its IQ on the K-1.

Here's where I store most of my K-1 images. The lens will be identified in each shot: Pentax 35mm DSLR images | Flickr

Welcome to the forum denniedigital.

I'm sure you will love the K-1 II.

I have the K-1 and also still shoot film, including with a P6x7 MLU.

I'm sure you will find the K-1 to be be even easier than the Canon 6D, with things like the customised 3rd dial being very handy for exposure compensation, SR on/off etc.

I love shooting the FA31 and FA77 primes in particular. Another great 2nd hand lens for the money, if you can find one, is the Tamron XR Di 28-75 f/2.8

Finally, don't hesitate to get a P645 - PK adapter to enable you to use great lenses like the A75 on your new K-1. I also use a P67-P645 adapter for some classics like the P67 105 f/2.4

Welcome HelenJo,

I'm only a youngster at 61. I still own an ME Super that I bought in 1981.
I look forward to seeing your photos and love your very positive outlook.

Fantastic shot lightvox. So, that's with the P67 55mm, or something else?

I must say that of the 4-5 P67 lenses I have that the SMC 55 f4 is my favourite.

Thanks for your comment.

In fact the rose shot is heavily cropped, as I realised that the RH rose was not in focus. Here is the full image (just uploaded :) ):

Welcome to the forum lightvox. I also shot with an M9 until recently and somewhat regret selling it to buy an M240, apart from the better high ISO performance and versatility with live-view.

I intended to sell my P645D, having bought a K-1 about a year ago. I also now shoot P67 film, having bought many P67 lenses to use with the 645.

This thread has made me hesitate on my intent, particularly as I've just shot a few images here in the Australian Spring and I'm loving the results. Perhaps I should sell my P67 II film camera instead ( I also have a somewhat dodgy P6x7 MLU as a backup).

Here are two from today, using the SMC version of the P67 105 f/2.4 with a polariser:

Ivanvernon is correct, Image B is the P645D photo. I agree that P645 and P67 lenses are great to use with the K-1, as indeed are P67 lenses with the P645!

Image B: P645D, A75 f/2.8 at f11

Image A: K-1, FA77 f/1.8 Ltd at f11.

I believe for the Image A / B test I copied the white balance and tint values from the P645D shot to the K-1 (in Lightroom). Despite that, I prefer the blue sky in the P645D image.

Full size images are using WB as shot.

K-1, FA77 f/1.8 Ltd, f11

My fear that I would not use my P645D after buying the K-1 are largely proven, however it's still a pleasure to use the 645D.

Ok, I used my P645D for the first time in many months yesterday.

Here are two images.

Which one is taken with the P645D?

Thanks pinholecam on this thread (and elsewhere) for extolling the virtues of Raw Therapee. I just downloaded 5.1 and used it to process the image below.

Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 Asph lens, f6.3, 44mm, ISO200. Rested on a wall (no tripod), hence the cropped image.

A much larger (iMac desktop-sized version) is here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9dwIDu9gH7FdDd5YWRsTk1pQzQ (it looks a little over-sharpened by the stepwise sharpening script I use).
