Not sure why I wrote Tamron. It is of course a Fujita 135mm F4.5. The Tamron from the same (?) time period is much larger...

Whats not to like about black cameras and black and silver lenses?

The smallest (??) 135mm lens by Tamron on a Pentax S2 Super.

Nice work, Ismael! And thanks for sharing your great work.

The S2 series is one of my favorit series to collect and learn about. The H2 designation was found on cameras marked as Asahi Pentax, Asahiflex H2 and Penta Asahiflex H2 as well as Honeywell Heiland Pentax. I.e. you will find both Asahi Pentax S2 as well as Asahi Pentax H2.

The H3 was also marked Honeywell Heiland, while H1, H3v and H1a were marked Honeywell Pentax.

These two are among my favorit cameras. I love the esthetic look and feel as well as handling of the camera and pre-set lenses. Black or chrome? Hard to decide.

Do you have a favorit from this period?

I am trying to get a better overview of what I have in my collection.

Go over some boxes stored on the attic, this really nice Asahi Pentax Bellows unit sat in the nice blue box. In side the box, under the instructions manual, I also found a page from a magazine called Modern (unknown to me?) that the owner had pulled out as a reference. Also along with a small cutout "How to figure bellows expore quickly".

I enclosed a scan of that page. It shows that the Pentax bellows would set you back $29.50.

Isn't it cool and nice?

I had to put on a time correct Pentax S3 with the Auto Tak 35mm (which is mentioned in the instruction booklet for the bellows). The S3 was sold for a short period april 1961-1962

Really a great story, and fun to read. thanks for sharing.

Note that the camera is engraved with the product number 23102 which gives away that it is the "late" model. The early model would / could have been engraved with P.number 231.

Pentax 300mm primes

I have been thinking along those same lines: I don't need a 300mm for more than a few times during the year. Financially I would get most from selling the DA*300 but as you also wrote, it will take more time. Cosmetically the DA*300 is like new, the FA*300 is well used but after a check by Pentax service, it is clean and fully functioning, it lacked the hood, but a local Pentax dealer actually had a new hood in stock. And I paid very small money for the FA*300 (was thrown in as "free" when I bought a smc Pentax-A*600).

not easy, I tend to not let stuff go :) LBA :)

Sorry to wake up this thread, but..
I have both the FA*300 and the DA*300. I don't need both, thinking about selling one. I really do not often need a 300, but it happens. Therefore I am ready to sell one... But which one fetches the best value on the second hand market? My imidiate reaction was to sell the DA*300 since it is larger and costed me more to acquire.
Any tips?

Nice looking copy.

What is really interessting is the early serial number. According to van Oostens book it is belived that the S1/H1 was found in the S/N range 303001 to 500000.

Remember that the 58mm f2.4 was the same design as the 58mm f2.4 sold with the Asahiflex. About 4 400 copies were made of the m42 version, vs 8-12 000 or so of the 55mm f2.2

Please show how you display your camera collection.

I am looking for good tips on where to get acryllic raiser that can be ordered to measure and any ideas on support under the lens.

How about doors and humidity? Anything I should think about? it is not very humid in Norway, but know others lives where this is an issue.

Half of my collection is about to go into a shelf from Ikea, but it is a mess right now..

More on the Asahi Flash-gun.

I now have two copies of this, one is missing the mounting brackets and the tiny tin to store the cable in. But I noticed some differences between the two.

Note the look of the cable and plug as well as the colour of the TEST-button and the small red dot on the terminal and plug to make sure you plug it in correctly.

First two pictures is one version, red test button and no red dot. and then vice versa.
