About the Sigma 50mm Art... It's probably awesome but for now I'll stick to the good old 50mm 1.7 I got together with an ME Super.
I was pretty much astonished when I saw the amount of detail this old gem rendered when I used it on my K3!

Cheers,
kpl

I'd be the second guy to put a Sigma 35 1.4 Art on.
Been anticipating this moment since I decided to buy this lens :)

Welcome to PF!

If you're into plane spotting, just check out the following two posts (these are not the only ones but those I knew where to find :) :

I would argue that you don't have to worry about the recent bodies and glass (K5II, K3) when it comes to shooting highly dynamic subjects.
Especially after what we're currently seeing at Photokina right now (some seriously big and probably very useful zoom lenses).

A knife, a plastic bag, duct tape, probably a couple of those silica bags to make sure :)
Should help even with rather serious rain.
The only thing to keep in mind is to leave enough plastic bag around zoom and focus rings, so they can still be operated manually if necessary.

Cheers,
kpl

TER-OR is absolutely right :)
Just be positive about it and build a reputation of open-mindedness, skill, theoretical and technical expertise.

I wonder if there's a club in my region...

That sound ist absolutely ok.
Mine does that, too.
It did that sound when I unboxed it and it still does that after several thousands of shutter actuations :)
Nothing to worry about.

I think Pentax/Ricoh call this AF hold.
Found a rather plain youtube clip, that demonstrates subject tracking and the impact of the AF hold setting:

I'm in IT and it's currently far from being as fascinating as extended periods of time in the wild are.

Is the old 7D really so much faster focussing than even the K3?
Never had the oppotunity to evaluate this myself, but I imagine it would be interesting to see how they actually perform using the same third party lens, the same open minded and competent photographer and the same setting/scenario :)

Edit:
Just watched the video below. Obviously not the setup I was talking about, however, the 7D with 70-200L USM is impressive when I compare it to my K3 with 60-250 SDM ^^

Well, I guess we all know that SDM is not exactly famous for being blazingly fast focussing.
On the other hand, my DA Limiteds are quite fast focussing. Loud, but fast :)

kpl

You can use the button for SD card slot selection (bottom right corner of the direction pad) to toggle between moving the AF area and drive mode, WB etc.

How much does your monitor affect your processing?

I found a website with a broad variety of charts and instructions.
If you don't want to buy the ideal monitor and calibration equipment this might be of great help to improve your monitor configuration and get to know potential weaknesses/flaws of your monitor:

LCD monitor test images

Personally I haven't acquired a fancy monitor because I'm not in photography professionally, however, I always use this page to check and adjust my new monitors as good as possible.

sd card speed for K-3

Hi, I guess Imageman, Adam and Ole covered the topic pretty well.

I'd just like to add a link to a video with a brief overview of how different cards perform in practice.
Although it's not a Pentax, it's still a Nikon D7100 which is as close as it gets to the K-3:

If you tend to fill the buffer of your DSLR with raw images all of the time and would like to improve this a bit then getting sandisk extreme pro cards is certainly going to help a bit.

Cheers,
kpl
