For thos that do not know, that is in Tunisia.

It is an older photo, so it has my name on it :). I stopped doing that.

This one screamed B&W for me, although it’s taking the challenge to the edge as this is the very last stage of blooming.

No worries Gump :), but I am not really into fishing. As a kid I did a couple of times and only caught a fish once and guess what, the hook was in it’s tail.
And a fishing weekend might even be someone’s pilgrimage.

You picked yourself a very diverse challenge, judging might be not easy :)

Hi Gump, i was not (trying) to imply that text can not be included, sometimes it is needed and somettimes not. In this challenge it is most likely needed to give a context to a photo as it is a personal challenge and unless people are close they would not know how it relates to pilgrimage.
Unless you have a photo of litteral pilgrimage:)

I think this is a great challenge, but it might take some extra info accompanying the photos.
This photo is taken in Sousse, Tunisia.
More than 25 years ago while we were moving house from the east to the west of the country, we decided to take a lat minute holiday. There was not much choice left, so we could decide between Egypt and Tunisia. We decided to go to Tunisia and went back year after year. It turns out to be a country that you either love or not and we do. In the meantime we have our own small beach house so we do not need to go to hotels and it turns out to be even cheaper. When you want to go you just buy a ticket.
Obviously we go several times a year normally and we now call it our second home(country), it is easy relaxing and we love the way of life. We have a lot of friends and acquaintances overthere.
Unfortunately, the last year we could not really go due to Corona obviously and, after my kidney problems and CFS, my wife got diagnosed cancer and needs to undergo experimental immunotherapy after the chemo did not deliver the desired results.

We really miss that place and are somehow “homesick”

I will have to start with a single photo as I do not have others in this date range.
Nevertheless I do really like it and swans are normally “easy” for a photoshoot.

The photo is taken with my DA* 300mm

Weekly Challenge Weekly Challenge #523 - Shadows

Hope this qualifies, but technically this is the biggest shadow you can photograph I think (at least seen from this planet).
This is the bloodmoon from July 2018, so the shadow is the entire earth.

I thought it might be time to join POTW again after some time of absence.

These photos are all taken within a 17,5 minutes radius around the house. Due to health reasons (both me and my wife) I am not getting any further away.

You are not making it easy with this challenge.
I had to considerably go back in time (more than 3 years), but I found one.

I could not find anything on the price, but the building is far from new (2004/2005) , so I think it will be ok.
It was sold in 2020 apparently, but I couldn’t find a sales price either.

Thanks for the challenge and the judging Ramseybuckeye. You chose a worthy winner indeed.
As for the building, I do not know it was build for energy efficiency, but would suppose it was as it is in the Netherlands. The building itself on the outside is very different as it is entirely grey aluminium. The inside of the building (some kind of patio like area) is covered in 3m radiant foil that was originally intended for perfume bottles.
I looked up the building on the internet and these “useful” facts popped up :).

I’ll go first then. I do not have a lot of “architecture” so my choice was a somewhat easy.

This is the local tax office and social security office.

Well, as said, you all did not make it easy for me. This weeks challenge resulted in beautiful photos and I liked them all. Judging was not easy and things could easily be different if I had to judge them on another day. Somehow I am not able to link to the photo, so you will have to go back to the original message to have a look :)

1st place : ramseybuckeye, you swampy morning has fantastic colors and I do not know if a foggy photo would improve on that. I really like the detail you still have in the dark part of the photo and the blue diagonal cloud streak in the sky just adds an extra interesting item.

2nd place : SpecialK, very good photo of the Eifel tower, I realy like the bottom up approach in this photo. Also the orange color against the blue greyish sky works very good.

3rd place : Bruce Clark, i have to say you got a beautiful clean shot here. Great colors. It really was worth getting out of your bed early enough to capture it. I also love how you kept the two, what I assume are, windmills in the photo.

4th place : mkgd, great shot at sunset. I like how the little part of open sky separates the dark mountains and the orange clouds. The details in the clouds are a great touch although that is not something you can influence (I suppose :) ).

HM’s :
pkboy for his nice cityscape with the moon and what I assume is Venus.
Charliezap for this great shot of Venice, although the people might be looking at Nessie’s little sister on the far right of the photo instead, kuddos for not cropping that out of the photo.
Turbo_bird, great sunrise indeed, as if the sky is on fire. And using a K10, i have fond memories of it, it was the second digital dslr after the Ist dl that i owned.
