As has been explained, the buy-it-now option doesn't stay unless you put on a reserve price. There is no reserve on this one, just a lovely, well loved :o lens waiting to find a new home for Christmas! :D

The front element does extend but not beyond the end of the hood.
I can tell you it wouldn't have been a popular dog! :o
The lens simply has had plenty of use, anyone that has actually used their FA* lenses will tell you that the finish on the hood doesn't take a huge amount to start to rub it off. Not the brightest of ideas by Pentax but I guess one of the reasons that MINT ones command such a premium. Problem is that it's always a worry taking a MINT lens out into the real world...
If you want a lens to reside on a shelf looking pretty, this isn't the one for you...

I'm using the 645 a lot for landscape work - need to get round to adding my opinions to the lens review database.
Ref that last point above, I've used 67 lenses on the 645 using the adapter - great for telephoto lenses but not so good at the wideangle end.
The one lens that I did want to try from the 67 arsenal was the 75mm shift - it works OK but how much use is a standard focal length shift lens? The problem will be even worse on the 645D - imagine a 100mm effective focal length (645 format) shift lens???

On the subject of the 645D - does anyone have an idea if there is going to be a crop factor with the lenses on this nice new big sensor?
Am I right to be guessing that the DFA 645 55mm lens is going to be the 'new' standard lens with an equivalent view of 75mm in traditional 645 terms?
I've been using the 645nII for a good few years now and can't wait to find out more on prices, new lenses etc...

Superb lenses - I picked mine up 3 years ago and had to resort to importing from Japan to UK. I brought in a couple extra as Pentax UK didn't seem to bother back then but they've all gone to good homes...
If you are prepared to pay UK prices  try my local store as I think they have some stock - SRS Microsystems - computer and camera retail

I don't understand why Sigma always get such a bad press - I have never had anything but positive experiences with them. I've been using the 28-70 DF and then the 24-70 DG for ages on both film and digital. I couldn't afford the FA* 28-70 at the time and both these lenses have given excellent service and haven't disappointed in terms of quality. Yes, they aren't as good as the FA* version which I have now but in terms of value for money they are top notch!
The FA* 28-70 has meant that the Sigma is on ebay at the mo - not sure it's worth sending across the pond through!!! ;)
