Hummingbirds have become comfortable around the feeder. They now just zip in and perch, with little or no hovering. Both shots with the K-1 and DA*200/2.8, heavy crops.

Got lucky and one of two showing movement was just OK.

Same bird, profile shot.

Another hobbyist here. I shoot whatever, but rarely people or street.

My most used lenses would be the 77/1.8 Ltd, then the 200/2.8 The 31 & 43 Ltds, 28-105, and 300/4 are used about equally and quite a bit less than the first two.

Rigged a hummingbird feeder on the balcony railing Sunday - birds found it today. Things are fast, lots of missed focus. Should have plenty of time to work on technique now, and as they get used to me I should be able to get closer over time.

K-1, DA*200/2.8, large crop.

A few shots from this last week. Nothing really special for either of these lenses.

A light dusting of high desert snow at upper elevations. K-1 and 31mm.

A couple days later, a bit more high desert snow. K-1 and 77mm.

Scooby and me... playing with a mirror pulled out of the old house. First time Scooby had seen his reflection. Both shots with the K-1 and DA* 200/2.8

First shot is Scoob posturing and being a bit unsure about the "other" dog doing the same thing he was. The fuzzy stuff on the right is Scooby, I was focused on his reflection. Cropped, flipped, etc...

Second shot is the finished mirror selfie.

I love 200mm. Works well for dog portraits when I have a space to let him roam off leash.

Why Do YOU Stay With Pentax?

If someone offered to buy my gear for what I had in it... I'd probably counter-offer that they could buy some of my gear. I'd want to keep the K-1, the FA Ltd trio, and the DA*200. The proceeds from what was sold would be used to purchase a lens or two I need to complete my Fuji kit.

Why do I stay with Pentax? Speaking only for myself... 1) Lenses. No one else does the FA Ltd trio. And I like my DA*200 almost as much as the 77. 2) I've yet to find another camera that fits my hands as well as the K-1. As I age, the shape of the camera body and the size and placement of the controls can make the use of the camera relatively transparent or exceedingly painful. Pentax wins hands down IMHO.

NEW or USED gear... What's in your bag?

I've had more than my share of bad experiences with used electronics over the years. So far, knock on wood, I've yet to have any issues with new gear except the odd piece being dead when coming out of the box. So, I tend to buy complicated tech items (like digital cameras and modern lenses) new.

My Pentax gear is all new except an A50/1.4, and will be getting used 24mm and 135mm when I find the ones I want.

My Fuji stuff is a mix of new and used.

LOL - same here. I so rarely win anything I'd be a bit shocked.

That said, if I do enter and if I did win it, I'd keep and use it alongside my current one.

What changes would you make to your lens collection if you won the K-1?

Me winning the giveaway is wishful thinking, but in the off chance it actually happens... no change required as I already have a K-1 and my current lenses work fine.

I would still be looking to add two primes, in the 20-24mm and 135mm range.

The DA*200 works wonderfully on my K-1. Same as the DA*300. Some of the DA* lenses are FF, even if marked DA.

Scooby, again. With the X-H1 and Voigtlander 50/3.5 Heliar. The more I use this lens on the X-H1, the more I'm liking the combo.

Off the top of my head... Fuji, Leica, Sigma and the Samsung NX are similar to Pentax and Sony. Canon, Olympus and Panasonic are similar to Nikon. I also find the lens release on the grip side easier to use.
