Ricoh quiet about K3 2 Successor

I just sold my D750 to purchase a K-3ii. Might seem crazy to some but whatever. Reading this thread makes me think I should never buy Pentax and stick with Nikon. My last Pentax was the K-20 and that focus was slooooow for any kind of action. But portraits I took were great. Each camera has a purpose and designated audience. If they didn't then every camera maker would only have one model. All this talk about 50+ focus points just reminds me that I set my camera on 1 or 9 so I can follow the center action. If I set to the whole broad spectrum, my daughter is lost in the crowd and out of focus because someone is nearer. If a successor to the K-3ii comes out in six months, sell the old and buy the new if is fills a need. Otherwise just keep taking pictures.

Thanks. Looks like a good multi purpose lens. Yes, I'm aware that this is no 2.8, etc. But sometimes you just need an all-around lens for family gatherings, etc. The other part of my question was for finding the best deal. I'll keep my eyes open. You're probably right about the announcements since the K70 has a few more refinements than the k-3ii. Might just wait a little but still drop one of my Nikon bodies.

So I've been away from Pentax for a while and I want to get back in. I'd love the K-1 but maybe by the end of the year. I still think the build of the k-3ii is what I want but I was also wondering about the 18-135 WR lens. Is this lens worth it? Should I have it? It is a bit pricey for an 18-135.

Also, I hate that the lens comes with the K-70 for $250 more for the kit vs $476 by itself. Is there a better way to get the lens with a K-3ii?

Thanks,
Bill

So much for Pentax holding the price on the K20D

If you ordered through Amazon (directly, not another seller), they have a price guarantee that says they will refund the price difference within 30 days of shipment. Right now, Amazon has the K20D listed for $1,153.93. I just put in my request for a refund. You have to ask because they will not do it automatically.

White balance seem to change

I think I may have found it. Custom setting #12 - WB Adjustable Range was set to 1. This allows the camera to apply what it thinks even when the source is specified. I'll set it to 2-Fixed to what I set it.

I was shooting dancers on stage last night with my new K20D. The lighting was constant, although the back corners were darker. I had the camera's WB set to Tungsten and shooting Manual Mode. But as the evening went on, there were occasional shots with a lot of yellow cast to them as though the WB setting wasn't applied. The EXIF only shows Custom. I was shooting with the DA*50-135. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Bill

Seems premature to have such a poll when users haven't had much of a chance to try it out yet. I just got mine yesterday but it will be months before I try it in most common situations. First impression is "super ISO" but I haven't left the house yet.

That would be sheer perfection.

But don't forget white balance. Used to be controlled by the film that was used. Now it has to be controlled by the "film" in the camera.

Personally, I liked the analog light meter of the K1000. I also liked adjusting the aperture with my left hand. Left hand had a lot of control back then (aperture, focus, and zoom). With some of the newer lenses, it is hard to get that kind of control back.

I just received my K20D yesterday. Haven't taken it out of the house yet but I'm seeing incredible detail at ISO6400 in a dimly lit room and closet where my K10D wouldn't even come close. My real test will be dance competition stages at the end of the month. If I had to choose, I'd definitely opt for the K20D. But I don't and now I have both. I've only had the K10D since November and I really like it for portraits (way better than the Canon 40D). These are just my humble opinions, of course.

Nikon's AutoISO works in all modes. I found out by accident because I was trying to shoot manual with external stobes but all my pics came out too bright. It was because the AutoISO was trying to compensate for the dark room. AutoISO is controlled from the menu system. And it has been confirmed on the D300 (I had it on D70, D80, and D200).

Besides, where would you be purchasing the Sigma? It doesn't exist except in the used world. (Unless they announced it today).
