The default is always bright, isn't it? (When the camera is new or you reset the settings.) I usually set it to natural. So you are suggesting to set the contrast to minimum on bright or natural (to get the most accurate histogram)?

K-3ii sees all lenses as manual lenses

It doesn't sound good. Since you tried different lenses it must be something. Do you see any obvious mount damage?

So it shows the aperture (rather than "F--") and it is just the AF that is messed up? Change up the modes (turn all the dials and switches back and forth), especially the focus setting, make sure they are not on a middle setting or the switch just needs a tweak or something.

Does it work at all if you put it in total auto green mode?

Try a factory reset to default settings and see if it helps.

Need help deciding between two 50mms!

The macro is f/4, not f1.4. And those are quite different styles of lenses, one of them being a macro and all. I kinda get the feeling that you are getting ahead of yourself. Get a handle on the basics before you go crazy buying lenses. Or at least don't spend too much because you're going to make some mistakes (as we all do).

Help identifying/info on this lens? Sakar 200mm

I don't believe it was "stealing" in any form, just marketing of different names in different markets of the same lenses from the same manufacturer (and resellers of that). Cameras/lenses were sold in a gazillion more places back then -- department stores had there own line of gear, camera stores had their own line, etc. Different regions, different stores, slightly different time periods. Even today Samyang lenses are sold under a half-dozen different names even at the same retailer at the same time.

Mirror, Mirror ( in the lens ) eek ? ! ?

Mirror lenses can be nice in that you're able to actually carry around a half-decent 500mm lens as an extra lens in your bag and it doesn't weigh much (although still a bit bulky). But "half-decent" should be taken literally -- definitely a lot of limitations, but not a lot of choices to make either with a fixed aperture. If you can separate your subject from background by a good distance, you can actually get creamy bokeh as Just1MoreDave said. Good for moon shots also if that's your thing. Use a hood -- makes a big difference with a mirror (lack of contrast is one of the limitations). The Tamron is definitely one of the better ones.

Back then probably just another re-brander, but not sure. Sakar is the one that bought and re-established the Vivitar name in more recent years.

SMC Pentax 85mm f/1.8 vs Tokina AT-X 90mm f/2.5

That's what I was going to say -- it comes down to whether you want the macro ability of the Tokina or you like to use the Pentax wide-open, although the Tokina is known for its bokeh as well. The Tokina of course was around for a while as a Vivitar Series 1 lens before the Tokina-branded ATX model -- I think there are some slight differences in the optics, but I can't remember quite what they are. They both need an adapter to go to 1:1 macro, which reminds me one of those matched ATX macro adapters that I need to list for sale myself.

How would you develop this roll - camera exposure compensation set to 2x accidentally

You're talking negative film? Don't even worry about it. I used to set my ASA to half the film speed just as a matter of good practice so I would have nice dense negatives. With digital and slide film, overexposure is a problem (can't recover blown highlights), with negative film underexposure is the enemy (can't recover thin shadows). If 2x means "2 stops" than you might adjust developing slightly (if only 1 stop, don't adjust anything), but you'll probably be fine as this is nice low speed film to begin with that should have plenty -- PLENTY -- of latitude. If your metering was off, you'll be glad it was "overexposed". It just means your ultimate print timings will be a bit longer, that's all.

Q10 shutdown while using manual focus

Power saver / auto-shutdown enabled? Is it possible the camera doesn't know you are still "doing something" and simply times out (after 1 minute or 3 minutes or whatever it is set to) and shuts down? If you are using the Q native lenses, I would think it would still be communicating that something is happening when manually focusing even if you aren't touching any buttons, but I always turn off the power modes completely so I'm not sure. (Or maybe you really are just waiting sometimes and aren't doing anything at all.) In any case, try turning that off if it is on.

For hiking use check all the reviews you can find for your candidates about do they get gunky, greasy, what if they get dirt on them, etc. That's one of the reasons I went with an Acratech head (which are more expensive) is that they are basically maintenance-free and if you drop it in the muck or it gets covered with sand you just brush it off.

Cool. I really like the K10D, but still gave it up due to its limitations.

Any chance we can see the K-1 version too?

City of God (2002). I haven't actually watched it yet, but it is highly-regarded. I think it is on available Netflix currently. (It is about two kids in a Brazilian slum -- one friend becomes a photographer, the other a gangster.)

The metadata doesn't get picked up in LR for this lens if I remember correctly (or if it is wider than 12mm or something). I forget the exact problem. Somebody had a download posted here once that could fix that (outside of LR).

Nature Sony A6000 Mounted With Meyer Optik 58MM 1.9 (Blue Jay in Flight)

I also have the 135/2.8 and the 200/4. The 135 (mine is the Pentacon version) has a bit more CA/purple fringing than I've seen with the others, but still a nice lens. The 200/4 is one of my favorite lenses (I have the zebra Meyer) and also fringes a bit wide-open but is impressively sharp and has pleasing character. I like the vintage German lenses as they seem to have prioritized edge-to-edge sharpness over the maximal center sharpness at the expense of the edges (Japanese lenses have this tendency) and that suits my style. And the bokeh is either swirly or creamy depending on the lens (and focus point, background distance, etc). Many of the vintage Meyers are in the sweet spot of quality and affordability. Even the very common 50/1.8 is one of my favorite 50s...

I've got a somewhat rare Takumar 58/2 which is pretty sweet, but I'd certainly pick up the Primoplan if I saw it at a good price. I've got actually got two Lydiths (the first one came with the rear element reversed and I saw a deal on a second one before I knew if I was gonna be able to fix it so ended up with two), it is a terrific lens.

Looks like you sheared it off, so it isn't going to go back. Is that an internal pin you've cut in half?
