I don't mind being wrong, I'm just making an assumption. I also didn't say they dropped anything, I said their focus on FF side has a non-zero impact on APS-C side, if you consider production capacity as limiting factor.
I also didn't judge whether this is good/bad for RP/consumers/world peace.

Actually they do. APS-C lens can be made smaller and take the benefit of not needing to cover full FF circle. Also cheaper.
Given the limited production capacity and the focus on FF now, it's reasonable to say that's happening on expense of APS-C.

Ahem, I'd say, contrary to Saabians(?), Pentaxians are on the cheap side of not being 'Me, too!' people.

I never understood the appeal of SAAB. But then for me a car is a tool to bring me from point A to point B, so there's that....

Could you post a sample shot of what you consider sharp (say a DA21 shot) and what you consider not (FA43)?

BTW, as of now, on amazon.fr Pentax lens is ~ 1200 EUR and Tamron ~ 500 EUR. At least in Europe, difference is very substantial.

BTW, all this doom and gloom is abso-effin-lutely fantastic for the used lenses market, at least in Europe.

Well I got the impression, and correct me if I'm wrong, that you called kenspo out for being a 'mercenary' i.e. that he's being paid for the music. As opposed to someone who's singing for free (Norm). Whether that was tactful or not is not really relevant, since it was a trivial remark (as in, obvious).

But then you followed up with hoping that RP has other 'mercenaries' that can follow the tune correctly. So in the end, it seemed to me that the problem wasn't the nature of kenspo's relation with RP but the fact he dismisses APS-C and compliments Nikon FF stuff.

In my opinion, that's not something of value for any of us hobbyists here. If I wanted to read corporate PR, I'd go to their official forum.
Pushing Kenspo to either go away or follow the official line and give us just smiles and thumbs ups and 'I can't tell you anything but FF rocks' stuff is not beneficial to us.

On a side note I have friends who moved from Europe to Melbourne some years ago and they keep inviting me there, saying everything is pretty much the same like on Earth but I still don't believe them. :p

That may be true, but I for one would prefer a real human with real reactions to up and down sides of a company product line, than a 'mercenary' market droid who will push the official line ad nauseam.
I find both Norm and you are doing disservice to Pentax community here by questioning kenspo's 'allegiance' and motivation. From what I can gather, he's a pro that, if RP can't deliver, can and will go somewhere else. He's not married to RP. And neither is huge majority of people here.
As such he is more valuable as a weathervane of all things RP than, hypothetically, a zealot who will keep shooting Pentax no matter what.

Tamron is a spectacular lens for the price, and as I already wrote somewhere here, best K mount lens dollar-per-pound. When I got it new, it cost less than half than 60-250 and came with a 6 year warranty.

2.8 is perfectly usable, lens is pretty sharp IMO and colors, well, I could say I find them nice (and definitely better than Tamron 17-50), but then, if you'll be shooting in gyms at high ISO, there won't be much to talk about anyway.

2016 - The Year of the DA 15mm Limited

Yep. I had the same dilemma when I got an HD DA15 in June. All the talk was about the starbursts but when I actually got to use the lens, very few photos had them, and the ones that did were fine, rounded blades notwithstanding.
Get whatever has the best state/price/warranty and you'll be fine.

Poll: For those who use a 16MP Pentax as your primary camera - upgrade in 2016?
Posted By cxdoo
Replies: 117

Nope, because:

* 16 Mp is the upper limit of what I subjectively need.
* 16 Mp is the upper limit of what my computer can handle.
* There is no significant benefit to currently available newer sensors in Pentax bodies.
* I'd like but don't particularly need better AF.
* I don't need to crop.

Basically, I'd consider buying a newer APS-C camera if it was up to 16-18-20 Mp, has a significantly better sensor and AF and is
a) comparable size&build wise to K5II (I don't like how KS2 feels).
b) significantly smaller/lighter than K5II (KS1 form is ok for what it is)

I don't care about LCD, dual slots, wifi, gps, video, more buttons & wheels.

I'm not interested in FF; that's too much for me in every sense.

I can't judge the whole market but at least I want to stick with 16mp APS-C as the sweet spot and it's not just about the money. I don't need more megapickles and I definitely don't need more kilograms. Somehow I don't believe my sentiment is unique.

The fact companies push up the market is logical, that's where the margins are fattest. However, that's not necessarily what the market wants.

Ah one of my favorite topics!
In the good ole days of 1.35 and higher exchange rate purchase in States was a reasonable choice.
Now, at 1.09, that's not really an option. And paying what RP asks in Europe is just not prudent.
I presume they are doing well, since the prices stay where they are.
So it's all good.

Second hand market a bit more alive this year. Pretty much anything available for those who wait. :)

I tried that already and wasn't really satisfied. It works but I believe it can be done much better.

No doubt about that. However this is more of a hobby project without any timeframes or obligations to family members so I'm exploring all the options.

I considered this too and still might send a film or two to see what kind of results I can expect.

It's slowly dawning on me what I need, in equipment, skill and time. :)

Thanks, this is very informative. I'm considering something like this Products
I'd put film on the bench between light table and a thick piece of safety glass to keep it flat. Then I reckon the most difficult part would be to align sensor and film planes but hopefully I'd need to do that only once per session.

---------- Post added 30th Nov 2015 at 10:16 ----------

-ish is the keyword for where I'm at now. :D
I had another round of frustration last night but between using mobile on top of a stack of books as light table and a tripod as copy stand there were too many parameters that could have gone wrong. However I'm in a no hurry so I'll take my time until I sort it out (or realize I'm incapable of doing so :) ).
