We don't have many camera stores that are full packed and cary Pentax overhere. So reaching customers is hard. I also said somewhere here that the number of people willing to carry around a camera of 1 kg and more with lenses in a bag is getting small very fast.

The biggest issue for Pentax is that over the last two years the Japanese market for dslr has collapsed. That market is down 20 % in the first 5 months this year and nothing compared to some years ago.

The way I see Pentax.....it is a patiŽnt on life support.

They used these words before. They used it to say that a profit was offset due to the yen-dollar exchange. Meaning the profit and growth in USD was offset into a loss in Yen. A decrease in profit is also to be read as an increase in loss.

Well you have a running operation with staff, factorys and offices. Those are mostly fixed costs. They should be payed by sales, on a % basis over production costs. So if sales plummit and fixed costs don't adjust fast enough you loose a lot of money. Then there is the option of a write-off of stock. Maybe you do cut staff numbers but you take costs for those leaving staff in this quarter. Making a bigger loss then expected is not a big problem, stopping it is.

I don't think K-1 production is at a high level at the moment. Something around 1000ish would maybe be enough.

I read it this morning. It is very difficult to see development for the camera business in the future. The camera business is loosing money and not a little. There is only something to say about sales in the America's. As in previous quarter sales went down! And they went down a lot. It looks like that sales to the America's (North, South, Middle and the Caribbean) are down to something like a 1 million USD sales on a monthly base. They put some things together with the previous camera business and now together that is less then it was for camera only a year ago. Remember these sales are combined for Theta, aps-c, fullframe, 645z and Gr. So sales are becoming marginal for Ricoh-Imaging in this area.

Something has to happen to stop the money loosing that is happening!

To be honest I don't see pro's coming to Pentax in any large numbers. I think some of these lenses will be far to expensive for the user group.

Well I think you forgot one important thing. A camera is there to earn money for the photographer (hobby aside) handling it. I think there is more money made in and with Instagram then many other fields of photography.

In K-mount I don't see many sales. My guess would be that starting with a fullframe sensor probably is the best start, since the target group pretty much has money to spend. Maybe the most expensive part is the firmware and software part, next to having a much more expensive sensor. So what if the extra costs are 1000 euro per camera. Then a k-1m would cost 3200 euro and a KPm would cost 2200 euro. How much advantage could a KPm give over a regular K-1 and postprocessing to black-and-White? Probably not enough to spend so much on the aps-c camera.

EVF is electronic viewfinder as seen in mirrorless camera's. You don't look through them, it is as a screen that shows so meting that happend a fractioneel of a second before.

OVF is traditional viewfinder as in SLR. So you look true them as they work with a mirror. The only downside is that you see the scene as it is in front of you in real time, but you don't see the picture you take, because the mirror will Block your view for the time to take the image.

They are not listed in shops as fullframe at the moment. That means that people from outside this little bubble don't know that they are for the K-1 and thus not considder buying them. Do I care? Well not to much, but I would correct that error, since it would promote sales.

Well that is probably why they don't show them overhere in shops as lenses for fullframe. I did wonder about that, but Ricoh-Imaging is the source for this.

B&H is also not listig them as lenses for fullframe.

Well I would use a sensor with normal Bayer color. Then again aps-h sounds about the right size. The thing is that the mount of sigma is as deep as k-mount is, so why not use k-mount instead?

I think one of the big issue's is that the number of people willing to walk around with a camera that weight's a kilogram is getting smaller with the time ticking. Lugging around a camerabag with camerabody, lenses and a tripod is not very popular anymore. Those who do it, are getting old fast.

That is for Japan I asume. So that are 38.708 units compared to cipa figures. If completely correct. This does make sense since sales in yen stayed flat and thus less, but more expensive, units sold. So marketshare worldwide would be like 0,8 - 0,9 % at best.
