I was going to guess ornamental cabbage, but it has the pattern of another flower whose name now escapes me. Nice work.

Really well done. Excellent use of shallow depth of field. I only wish I had a proper Pentax macro lens!

Very nice work. Tess. But I would say one has to be familiar with the park to do what you do. And I wish I was there! You make it look so inviting. BTW, do you find the Pentax sensor does not produce the reds very well? I was thinking of the orange jacket which looks somewhat red to me. I say this because when I was shooting Xmas lights, my images of those taken, Nikon, Canon, Samsung, Sony, etc, mine was the only one that had subdued reds, almost orangy when they should have been deep pop reds.

I was there this autumn. I rented a cottage by Oxtongue Lake. I am sure you know where it is. Overall, these very nice images. But I think you may want to tone down your processing, they look somewhat underexposed. Should be easy to fix. Nice work.

This is a great shot. How did you get the shallow depth of field if you used F16 as Fstop?

People Playing with Light

It's very nice. I like the gradation from light to dark. You have a few hot spots, like the bottom left corner and the top left. Nevertheless, the overall concept is very good. Many people feel they have to shoot the whole human form, but your example shows one can isolate or abstract portions of the human body.

What is really nice about this shot is how the three elements work together to give it that 3D look. It has rhythm and excellent bokeh.

Very nice, moody. If you crop off the top where the sky begins, I think the image will be even stronger. As it stands, I think it competes with the bottom where it really strong.

Superb image. You may want to try to down the white on the body a bit. But even with that, it is really fine image, with the spirit of the bird and flying, captured nicely.

Lovely. I can't agree about the head crops being tight. It is all a matter of what you want to emphasize and whether the resulting shapes (faces) contribute to the final result. In most, the emphasis is on the eyes and other features nestled in an oval shape. The ovals don't have to be whole and can implied. The shapes are beautifully juxtaposed against the edges of the images. And the red headed girl with all her imperfections is just stunning. Really nice work.

Abstract Time waits for no one

Trust me, it has a beautiful abstract quality, and at the same time(!), conveys a feeling of time going by. Like when a person looks through a window. Perhaps it is the patina colours in combination with the pastels, or the soft shadows that obviously come from a window, or the window shadow shapes. The clock dominates, but not overly so, just enough to blend in and convey that timeless feeling. For whom does that chair wait? It's expressive and conveys a feeling of timelessness. Really, you should be proud and consider entering this in a competition. Well done, IMO!

Quite good, excellent work! I note from the Xif that these were shot in wide angle. It is evident that on the whole, the close-ups have a more dramatic look, tan any normal lens, but most avoid the distortion that comes with shooting faces close up on wide angle lens. May I ask why you do this?
