It looks as tho Pentax took a design cue from that knurled focus ring, on their 20-40 Ltd., esp. the silver version.

Thanks. I tried all of that, except not rebooting K-3 twice (?). So here goes . . . . But I find it very strange that within the FLU card is apparently some of the same code as in Image Synch, and that the K-3 was able to use it in this crippled state.

I reformatted my FLU card, as normal, and when I next tried to use it, all of the SSID, version, and other informatin fields were empty, both in the camera and in the app, and the "camera control" was not working. More strange, transfer of an image began working exactly like it does in the the Image Sync app that I use with my wi-fi on the K-S2.
Repeat: The FLU card image transfer function stopped behaving in the FLU card manner and began working in the Image Synch app manner. What could explain THAT?

I've cleaned the Q/Q7 sensor shield, never the sensor behind it.

Try setting multi exposure to 30 seconds and average 4 shots. Voila, 2 minutes.

Some say the Q-system has died. But did the Q System really die?
After all, it evolved as far as the Q7 in both a "Complete Kit" before the 08 was developed, and a "Premium Kit" after the 08 was available for the set. That's two top-line, full kits, when most camera models never get a single "premium" treatment of any sort. I bought the Complete Kit and the 08 a la carte. I still have my very small Q-bag always at the ready. It's a go-to tool.
Q7/08 is one of the most interesting lens/body combinations ever made. The idea of a 17.5mm (eq.) lens of that size is astonishing. After they produced the 08, there was no need for a prime 20mm or 24mm (eq.) prime. And the 01 "normal" was 40mm/f1.9 (eq.) on the Q7, so there was no need for a 35mm (eq.) either.
And the 06 lens? -- 70-210mm (eq.) constant f2.8! And size matters, but it this case, it is super SMALL size.
I don't feel the Q System died. I think it triumphed and lives on in the hands of those who saw how to use it. If you failed to get at least the Q7/01/06/08 set, much less either of the two premium kits, you missed a really great and unique Pentax product.

My HD 15mm Ltd is not as good as my SMC 15mm Ltd. My 21mm Ltd is not as good as my 20-40 Ltd. at 20mm..

Just inspect the lens flange periodically and wipe clean. I use the hard plastic Pentax caps as well as the softer push-on type. Both can be "shaved," according to my years of observation.

Any dust or specks can migrate anywhere. The lens flange can shave small black bits from the plastic lens caps, which then stick to the lens and then can migrate into the mirror box, where they can eventually get to the sensor, or, especially, the underside of the pentaprism, where you will see them in the viewfinder. I believe I'm the first ever to mention this, but I have noticed it for years. If you have black bits in your viewfinder, they most likely are on the bottom of the pentaprism, having come from lens caps.

Lens cap bits. Look at your lens mounting plates closely.

But, it is true that if the internal battery dies, not only time but several other items become necessary resets, correct? Adam might know.

It would be a blast if Pentax made a new TS lens! In the meantime, I'll use post-processing perspective adjustment.

I don't think Pentax has that much flexibility. They know the 50-135 is superb, with the quality of the Limiteds. They can't just make another version of it while putting their resources to other things.

I am of the unshakable opinion that LOTS of "consumer photographers" would be far happier, not to mention better picture-takers, with the ergonomics, menu interface, and quality-per-dollar with ANY of the Pentax APS-C DSLR's, rather than the Rebels and red Nikons I see around their necks in the camera-rich environment of my home city. Few if any of those tourist and casual shooters would split hairs over AF or, especially, the "grip angst," that so many more "advanced" shooters get distracted with (irony there, eh? The KP multi-grip was very probably Pentax fairly responding to all the unnecessary grip angst that swirled around the K-01 and later the K-S1. I give Pentax high credit for actually listening to the market and giving the KP multi-grip a chance. And then guess what? Advanced Pentaxians had the nerve to complain about that. Sheesh). I think the teaser is a K-1 mark 2, not another APS-C. The KP and K-70 are still excellent models for APS-C, and the K-3ii is still fabulous, without even considering the current pricing, which represent astounding value to be had nowhere else. Not being a Pentaxian is the single worst mistake that a budding photographer can make as far as I'm concerned.
But back to my point, with the supervalue K-3ii and the highly capable K-70 and KP still available, the teaser is a K-1 mk2.

The 50-135 is an indispensible lens, and an extremely useful focal range -- perhaps the best focal range after the Ltd. 20-40, which I view as a "variable normal" (albeit slow on the long end. 20mm f.2.8 is fine, however, and it beats the 21mm Ltd.'s f3.2). My SDM is fine after 4 years of hard use, and it can be converted to screw if need be. Fully dunked in a cold river once, no problem. Be glad that the filters are ONLY 67mm. Internal zoom and focus -- brilliant design!

I've dunked my K-3 w/ a 50-135 and had no issues. But I count 10, not 9, screws on the bottom plate.
