Capture One?

Phase One will never support competing medium format cameras. They usually support all 24x36 cameras, APS-C cameras, but they have clearly stated that they will never support Pentax 645, Leica S, Hasselblad, Fuji GFX.
If you want to use Capture One, you need to modify the "identity' of the files, and make Capture One believe that the pictures where taken with a Phase One Camera. Some programs do that automatically, I think it was described on this forum.

the 25mm lens

I remember (maybe I'm wrong) that I read somewhere that another potential difference between DA and DFA was about tolerances. With same optical design between DFA and DA, Pentax could afford to have wider manufacturing tolerances (on elements positioning, alignment, etc) on the DA version, because the effects being outside of the 44x33mm sensor, it wouldn't be noticed. In other words, a DA on 54x40mm sensor could have weaker corners than the DFA with its narrower tolerances.
Can somebody confirm this ?

New 645z in 2018?

I think you are mixing Zeiss with Contax... Contax SLRs in the 80's were done by Kyocera, using specially made Zeiss lenses. But "Zeiss stuff" was not made by Kyocera. Kyocera only bought Contax name.
Nevertheless, I have no problem with lenses made by somebody else. Only the result matters.
And even if you are not interested in wide angles, a lot of people are, out there. Most especially in medium format, were wide angle lenses seem to produce less distorsion than on small formats...

Using 24mm HCD on Hasselblad FF645 body, I kind of know what you mean... There is no such thing as "too wide" angle :)
On 645Z, I feel sometimes limited with 28-45 zoom, but usually it is indoor or for architecture.
And I agree for focal length equivalence, it is difficult to give accurate figures. I rely myself on horizontal field of view to calculate equivalence, and it is less favourable.

There are only 2 lenses in DA in the whole line-up : the 28-45 (without equivalent in DFA) and the 25mm, discontinued, which existed in DFA version before. I don't think Pentax would build any strategy of upgrade in case they would go to 54x40 sensor. They would probably just think about wide-angle offer to cover full size sensor, the widest in sales being 33mm if I am correct.

Regarding lenses, if the need of OP is real macro lens, then the 120mm could be a good choice, it does 1:1, whereas the 90mm (a really excellent lens !) does only 1:2 reproduction ratio. The 90mm is more versatile (stabilization, faster aperture, all weather, better bokeh IMHO), but less efficient in macro use.

Regarding the next sensors... 100MP in 44x33mm or any 54x40mm sensor could be really expensive by comparison with what we know with current 645Z, so I don't know if Pentax would sell a lot. Fuji is already leaking that the price of future GFX100S would be much higher than the GFX50S one. No idea if it is true, of course.

I am not a professional photographer, so I don't feel the need to have a back-up system. I have a Z which I used a lot (usually with 28-45DA + 90 DFA+ 150FA), without another camera ever at the same time. When I pick up this gear, I know it can cover my needs, and reliability has never been a problem. But I would never take this kit for motorsports ; in this case I choose something else than the Z, and I never mix systems.
I've tried taking 2 different systems during some travels, and in fact I never use the "smaller" one because I feel I could have better pictures with the Z. True, it is not a light system, but the results are rewarding and it kills the wish to use something else.

645S/F/A - what will it be next year?

Hasselblad does use this sensor on their side, so it is not completely locked. And I think that Pentax signed an agreement some time ago to get this sensor and see if they could make something about it (and clearly said later that it was not a commercial agreement to develop and sale a full 645 format soon, just a case study).
So technically Pentax could go that way. Do they which so ? I sure don't know.

PS : the 100MP full 645 format sensor delivers 4K video with Hasselblad, just in case people would be worried about video.

I had the same problem on mine (2nd hand). The front part started to move, then started to be unable to focus automatically and finally the diaphragm wouldn't work. They changed the AF subassembly and it is like new now.
Don't wait for repairs really... it will only get worse until you can't use it anymore (and risk to drop the front elements on the ground).
I'm in Europe so I can't give advice on repair services in your country...

In fact there were 2 versions of the 645 25mm : a DFA first, and then a DA. The first one covered full frame, the second was a crop, but shared almost all the components with the DFA.

Can next 645 digital be made less deep?

The Fuji is not so small in the flesh, in particular it is very deep, much more than what you would expect. And I agree on the lenses, they are rather big, so the combination is far from small. The Hasselblad X1D, on the other hand, is compact.

There are 2 sizes of sensors made by Sony for MF :
- 50MP 33x44mm found in our (previously ?) beloved 645Z, shared by Hasselblad in X1D, H6D50C, and Phase One IQx50 backs, considered as crop,
- 100MP 54x40mm found in Phase One IQ3 100MP back and Hasselblad's H6D100C. Same size as previous 60MP and 80MP CCD backs from both companies, considered as full frame in medium format digital world.

Leica is 30x45mm, from different supplier, not Sony (CMOSIS design, made by STMicroelectronics I think, not sure)

---------- Post added 09-22-16 at 06:53 AM ----------

Almost exactly my thoughts... except that I still really don't like EVFs, even Leica Q's one, which should share the hardware with Fuji's EVF if I read correctly. So I have no hope for this one. But it is only me.
