Adapter - Tamron Adaptall to Pentax ES Asking Price
1.00 USD Item Location
Hamilton, Ontario (Canada) Item Description
Tamron Adaptall to Pentax ES (m42 mount) adapter ring.
This was attached to an Adaptall-2 zoom lens and seemed to work fine mechanically on an ES camera, although I didn't take any pictures.
I have given up waiting for lens to come along for it. Are you the original owner of the item being sold?

m42 Takumars - 28mm/f3.5 - 55mm/f1.8 and 200mm/f4 Asking Price
40.00 USD Item Location
Hamilton, Ontario (Canada) Item Description
Grab bag of m42 mount Takumars for anyone wanting to experiment. All of these lens have been tested on a K5 with a genuine m42 to k mount adapter and were fully functional (see note on 200mm).
1) Super-Multi-Coated TAKUMAR 1:3.5/28 - Very nice barrel. The front ring is from a different lens and has had holes drilled in it. There is internal dust and I feel the glass might have cleaning marks, but it is hard to tell. Image quality is fine. Comes with original front and rear caps.
2) SMC TAKUMAR 1:1.8/55 - Very nice physical condition. The original metal cap is dented and there is internal dust. Image quality is fine. Comes with original rear cap also.
3) Super-Takumar 1:4/200 - This lens works fine in manual mode on my K5 and GXR, but the pin on it is bent and it won't work in automatic mode on my ES. So please only buy it if you intend to shoot on modern cameras. Physical condition is very nice. Comes with original caps and hood and case. Glass has internal dust. Image quality is fine. SMC K 50mm 1.4 Asking Price
50.00 USD Item Location
Ontario (Canada) Item Description
I am not the original owner of this lens. The body is in good condition. The aperture ring has a slight amount of wiggle (but turns and clicks into position well). Functions as it should on my K5. The focusing is nice and smooth throughout the range. The glass has a very light yellow tint (this has almost been fully removed under a UV light I have) and there is fine dust inside. Comes with Pentax rear cap, and front UV filter. Are you the original owner of the item being sold?

I just like the way the A feels. If I needed AF, I would definitely choose the DFA.

Keepers:
Takumar 50mm 1.4
A Macro 50mm 2.8
Relinquished/Plan to Relinquish
A 50 mm 1.7
M 50 mm 1.7
K 50 mm 1.4
DFA 50 mm 2.8
FA 50 mm 1.4
I like the artistic rendering of the Tak and the accuracy of the A Macro. And they both feel great for MF.
The other lens are all great too (although I don't like where the green button is on the K5, but that isn't the K/M lenses' fault) and any one of them would probably serve me equally. However, maybe the A 1.2 would serve me more equally (and this thread has tempted me to look into it).

I actually think it is a very nice looking lens too. It is just the scale that is weird maybe on the K5.
Yet another excuse I don't need to get a Q or an m-module for my GXR to see how it looks on a smaller camera.
(All joking aside, I don't really care what my camera looks like. But I was surprised on the weekend when some stranger came up and pointed at it and said "I don't know what THAT is, but this is what a camera looks like nowadays". He was holding an iphone and then asked me to take a picture of him and his wife with it!)

I purchased it as an alternative to the K 200mm 2.5 for sunny day shooting. Just because it was 1/10th the cost, lighter, and I like shooting in Av mode.
But it holds up quite well IQ-wise.

I have been testing out a Super Takumar 200mm 5.6 and have been pretty impressed with its performance. But it has also been attracting snide comments for some reason (I admit it doesn't look great on the K5) and I am becoming self-conscious :o
Perhaps I will cut the bottom out of one of those Canon 70-200mm coffee mugs to disguise it!
Pictured beside a K 200mm 2.5 for comparison.

I was angling for a Tak 200mm f4 in a blurry ebay lot, and this was also in it. Since the 200mm turned out to be in great condition with caps, hood et al. I decided to put this out so someone else could enjoy it.

Super Takumar 105 f2.8 w/ issue Asking Price
30.00 USD Item Location
Ontario (Canada) Item Description
Super-Takumar 1:2.8/105 m42 mount
SN 1712898
This lens has a condition issue: a small chip at the side of the front element (see picture). I honestly have no idea if this affects the lens performance, but it seemed to image well on my K5 under different shooting conditions (the lens seems prone to flare, but this seems common after reading the reviews).
Otherwise, the cosmetic condition is okay (several scuffs and scratches) and there are a few dust particles inside the lens. The aperture closes and opens fine and the A/M switch works.
Comes with original metal front cap and screw on plastic rear cap. Also includes metal hood and original case. Are you the original owner of the item being sold?

Thanks for all the advice. I have been playing around with this using the optical triggering (because I haven't picked up radio triggers yet) and it looks good. I just need to work with flash placement a bit.
One final question: if the scene is mostly lit by the flash, then the shutter speed will have no effect on motion blurring (i.e., I can freeze kids' movement even at 1/125 or slower)? Then I am assuming motion blur creeps in as the ambient lighting increases? I usually have to shoot my kids at 1/500 to freeze things enough.

Okay. So set the flash power for the aperture and ISO I want, then use the shutter speed to control the ambient exposure (but stay below 1/180). I'll try this.

Thanks for the reply.
I actually tried optically triggering it last year, but I found the triggering was inconsistent, depending on where I was pointing the camera. Maybe I need to revisit that, but in my mind, I thought RF triggering would be more straightforward.
