I'm in the unfortunate position of needing to raise some finances.
This is not helped by the fact that I'm currently obsessed with film photography, so to continue my ability to buy film in this financially difficult time, my Pentax gear is for sale.

K10D, just under 10k exposures, has treated me very well so far, and I've treated it very well. Cosmetically very very clean, light scratch or two on the corners, barely visible. Supplied with spare battery, original pentax strap. 225 reserved.

Samsung SA16-45mm f4 lens
. Clone of the Pentax 16-45mm, has been a worthy companion to my K10D. Has pyramid shaped grip, which I prefer to the pentax feel. Aside from some very light wear on the hood, lens is pretty much optically, mechanically, cosmetically mint. Comes fully boxed. 150. reserved

Pentax DA50-200mm f4-5.6 zoom. As new, hasn't seen much use. I'm more of a wide to short tele man. Fully boxed. sold

Pentax K 135mm f2.5 takumar(Bayonet). A brilliant lens, good optical performance, near mint. Barely a spec of dust inside, optically clear and mechanically smooth is all areas. 50

Pentax DA35mm f2.8 macro
. I hate to see this one go, this was by far my favourite lens. Always on my camera. Given how much I love it, I am sorely tempted to keep it, but without a body to go on, it would be redundant. I can't really afford redundancy at the moment... heh
Fully boxed, near mint. I'm not sure how to price it given crazy Pentax UK prices, but 300.

Sigma EF530DG Super Flashgun + genuine omni bounce
. Not used very much, as I feel more comfortable with available light. As new condition, all original accessories including flash stand and case and box. sold

Orion Trekker II
backpack in red and black. One of my many camera bags, near mint condition, with all inserts accounted for. 20.

Also for sale I have a Voigtlander 35mm f2.5 color-skopar for Leica M mount. Absolutely beautiful and compact lens, and the results are lovely, however because I have quite thick glasses, its difficult for me to see the 35mm frame on my Leica. Also comes with the vented hood worth 35. Near mint condition, fully boxed for both lens and hood. 250 ono.

All of the above items are in the UK, and Special Delivery in the UK will be 10 per parcel. Combining shipping is fine by me.
Buyers outside the UK are very welcome, if you're not in the EU, import tax and customs may apply so please bear that in mind.

Any questions or offers please PM, photos of items will be put up when I can, or on request.

Thanks for you interest!

Hey guys, I've been on the lookout for an app for my new iphone for metering, and it looks like the people who made photobuddy have created one. Released 12th July 09, isn't even on their website yet.

Its called 'lightmeter' (very inventive name)

It is on the appstore though, so I'm about to download it.

Has anyone got round to using this yet?

The person who made the original advert doesn't have a clue... if Pentax UK is hiring people to design their adverts who gets the picture of the camera on an advert...

I saw the advert in the latest Amateur Photographer magazine, and I thought this was an awful advert...
Misleading, covering the 17-70mm lens with badly photoshopped water droplets and adding gold accents? Is there a 17-70mm WR lens somewhere in the lineup?
Was the same advert designer hired?

'Tell you what guys, so sorry about before, I'll make up for it by making your K7 look super shiny! Gold looks good, and all the lenses are waterproof, right?'

*Throws up a little bit...*

900 with kit would have been great, now I'm going to have to find more money, or wait before I buy it, both very difficult!

Thats part of Pentax and Tokinas non competition agreement I would imagine.
16-50mm, 50-135mm, 35mm macro, 12-24mm, 10-17mm fisheye, etc. I would hope the 11-16mm f2.8 is another lens that is shared...

I hope so, that would be excellent. Being able to use lithium AAs is something that I miss on my K10D. Means I can hold off on buying a grip for a little while!

The filter thread has changed to 49mm, so perhaps the optical formula has changed as well. I liked my 50-200 alot, very portable and light.
Besides, the way I would use the lens, the image would be degraded more from the mud and salt water on the lens than any optical imperfections...

Weight of the K7?

I have an ibm m keyboard thats 20 years old which is incredibly heavy with a metal plate for stability. It is absolutely beautiful to type on, it feels like its built for working on and built to last.

However I don't carry it around, and with a camera, I would like it as light as possible within reason.
Up to 750g including battery and lens would be very acceptable to me. Magnesium is lighter than a steel chassis no?

Well obviously if you cover the AF assist light, its not going to work.
If the AF assist is visible enough to work on smaller lenses that should be ok.
For example, for my DA35 or my DA40 :)

Would you really expect an AF led to be enough light to help focus in situations where you would need a 300mm f2.8?
AF assists are not really designed for long distance work...

Last time I went to Paris, I saw a much higher proportion of Pentax shooters than I have seen anywhere else. I went to one of the photo shops and they had all the limited lenses including the FA limiteds and the DA* lenses in the window. I was well impressed.
I don't know what the exposure is like in Germany and Switzerland, but moving your base of operations to a place of greater support sounds like good business sense.

Commiserations to those being made redundant, I work in a bank, so I'm on pretty shaky ground myself...

It would be cool if they went all the way back and started using names ending with -matic.

Spotmatic, or perhaps a more modern variant Digimatic.

No more numbers!

After all of the rumours, we will see the return of the date back!
Unremovable dates stamped all over your favourite pictures.
Also we'll see new powerzoom lenses.

Seriously though, if the things it brings back from the past is old school strap lugs, solid metal construction and a massive viewfinder while keeping a small compact size, like the digital MX, I'd be very happy.

I could see myself buying a everready leather case, the new camera + 35mm macro and running around with a nylon strap thin enough to cut my shoulder. Good times.

I get the feeling that the camera will be a little smaller. The weird semicircle is probably the rear control wheel, which suggests a higher level than K200 or K2000

It might just be the perspective, but the camera looks alot smaller than the k20 and the k200 next to it. If you look there is also no green mode button on the top.
can't wait to find out!

That is one of the ugliest cameras I have ever seen in my life.
All I want is a Dslr that will let me take video with my Pentax lenses. High ISO and fast autofocus for indoor sport would be nice too.

Planning for Thailand trip

I'm thinking the 16-45mm, 35mm macro, 50mm 1.4 and 50-200mm, sigma 530ef super and a polariser.

I'm thinking whether its worth taking the grip... I mean if I want to lighten my load for trips, I can leave it off and go with just the 35mm and the k10 body I guess.

Anyone got any thoughts about travel bags?
