I don't have any experience with that one, but a quick google tells me that it doesn't cover medium format and that the flange focal distance the lens has would mean that it'd have to be mounted inside the camera, so no, I guess you won't be able to use one on your 645Z :(

KStars supports Pentax cameras, I'm not sure what functions though, I never got round to giving it a proper go myself but do plan to sometime. :)

Worth owning these Russian lenses?

I wouldn't even try to find any without cleaning marks (on the front element, I wouldn't want them on the rear element). I got lucky on some lenses that barely have any, but my general rule is: Clean optics, no scratches, used looking body. If there's no signs of usage I'd start to wonder why it's spent most of it's life on a shelf.
I'd rather have a used and loved and decently looked after lens than a neglected one. :)

I've had some good results with my K-1 + astrotracer earlier this year after following the extensive guide by Roger N. Clark. It's a bit a difficult read (physics heavy) but definitely worth it.

That rings a bell, thanks! I hadn't been using my cameras much the past few years and many of these little details have slipped my mind :o

Am I missing something? I haven't modified any of my m39 lenses irreversably regarding focus.
In fact, only my Jupiter 9 needed a bit a thinner shim, the others all are okay. What is the irreversible mod?

I'm not sure if the 77m creates better swirl, but I assume that if it swilrs better it's probably not "worth" the higher price.

Another 50/1.8 that is swirly would be the Cosinon 50/1.8. It's even cheaper than the helios, I think you get the most swirl for your money with that one. :)

Lens Adapters

The SA mount/lenses have a shorter registration distance than the K mount and thus can't be adapted. You wouldn't be able to reach infinity.

Though apparently the SA mount sort of fits loosely in the K bayonet.
I'm not sure if these lenses have any electronics, if not you maybe could mess around with the mount, shim it to fit snuggly or even replace the mount, but it's probably not worth it.

It's more likely that you'll see me in the K-1 photo thread I think. I received 13 lenses in the post today that I'll need to give a go.. I'm only letting myself keep two. Or three. I hope. :D

Well... This went way worse than I'd ever had anticipated. Left my camera at my great-aunts one day, next day was too wet to retrieve it - okay, it would have been possible if I'd actually have thought about it beforehand - and then I kinda forgot. :|

Thanks! Glad to hear that :)

Just wanted to make sure before I drop the camera off by my friend. Was a bit uncertain since my K-50 and K-1 don't do anything like it.

Movement happens when turning the camera on.

Yes, I was thinking/hoping it'd be that at first but it's definitely not that.

Hey guys,

Just picked up a used K-5 for a friend of mine (one Pentaxian more! :) ).
Tried the camera out and it seems well looked after but used (shutter count ~17k) and functions well, however what I thought was the screw drive doing something when turning the camera on turns out to be the aperture lever.
It vibrates up and down ever so slightly. It's barely visible when looking at it when turning it on but you can clearly feel it if you place your finger on it lightly.
Is this a common issue? Is there a fix? Does it matter? It simply doesn't sound great with a lens attached as it rattles the aperture around a little, but it did strike me as a little odd!

Cheers

Cheers! I'm sort of hoping to get hooked again, but I don't know if I'd manage to stay longer on a regular basis. it's my final year at school and it's getting slightly busy!

I did check the themes and have got the camera ready on the kitchen table for tomorrow morning! ;)

Haven't done a daily in years and stopped using flickr since then. Trying to get my website sort of presentable to be able to host my photos there.. Hopefully

*coughs*, would anyone have any objections if I'd chime in these days? I've got about a months holidays from school but there's the little issue that they're starting tomorrow and will end on the 13th so not exactly a month as they are in the calendars.. Might be able to get October done fully but couldn't guarantee it..

I do really fancy picking up my camera again! :o

I've got an amateur radio in the cellar that belonged to my great grandfather. One day I'd like to restore it... Not entirely sure if it's 40s or pre-war. Little tube amp and everything, headphones are also still there
Not sure if I'll ever be electrically skilled enough to take on the task though.

I've never used PK tether, but if it displays what the camera sees in real time and in a usable resolution you could use OBS to capture that part of the frame and stream that as a webcam feed.

It also depends a lot on what sales the company has adjusted to. I guess Pentax has adjusted to fairly low sales.
SoCaNi however with all their marketing and ads etc. could end up with accounts that don't quite add up to their liking way faster.
