I would have to agree, you are shooting at 1/1000th of a second at near 70mm-80mm, rule of thumb would rule in favor of SR off.

So, confirmed, no flash at the moment (no flash popup button) and one more button than the k3 near the AF mode dial.
Any ideas?

K-3 compares well to D800

The first set shows insignificant differences to me.
The second seems to show that the D800 is sharper, but it is stopped down, whilst the Pentax is wide open.

You are probably doing something wrong.
I find the new 5 version to be more than acceptable in many respects over adobe.
In terms of IQ I dare anyone to say that ACR/Lightroom make a better quick rendition. I use ACR for weddings where you are editing a lot of pictures. Otherwise its the pentax software for me.
Here is a picture of my desktop. I have configured the software how I like it, everything is very quick to access.

I have a feeling you are wrong. The flash is very very fast indeed, and the sensor needs to move enough to make a difference in a very short time. Imaging resources measured the sensor to move at 500 Hz in a second which may or may not be fast enough for some flashes, but certainly not enough for flash over 1/2000th duration it would get the equivalent of 1/4 the movement normaly in the AA simulator .
Think of it as the simulator being fully effective at 1/500th of a second and anything under.
I would welcome someone doing a real test on this.

I did think that you probably meant the flash after posting........ it is an interesting thought. I would imagine that the veil might be slightly problematic as there is a human face beneath. any fix would affect the focus point of the image. My studio flash is 1/800th to 1/500th so I should be safe. But I use light strobes most of the other time, which have a very quick flash.

Personal experience obviously. It's how you tell every issue appart. Pentax could not afford the new sensor, so they got the old noisy one. Let's ignore the fact that Nikon are using a new Sony sensor in the d5300.

well, it does have an AA simulator, which works. It moves the sensor minutely to make it work.

I am a K20D Shooter who is indeed thinking of the K3, its replacement, or even a K5II.
I would welcome any REAL wedding photographers (people that get paid serious money) to contribute. I understand how a camera can do quite good. But also I understand how a camera can do it all!! The Pentax system has looked good since the K5II, but I would like to not rely on the terrible Metz interface for flash photography.
So, does the K3 have it all.
consistent metering
great AF in terrible lighting
decent P-TTL
quiet
fast
dual slot (at last)
high Iso performance that cleans up as well as the K5 (NR)
reliable battery indicator
And the rest, I got bored listing.
It looks on paper like a lighter Canon 1D MKIII
does it do it all.

This is a crop from the Pentax F (not FA) 50mm 1.4 @1.4
I owned the M1.4, M2.0, the K1.2 and the F 1.7........ this one so far seems the best! Shot with the K20D
the picture is a 100% crop BTW.....

there is no way this video is real. the focal point is always spot on, their crop factors are not the same yet they manage to make an absolute perfect scene placement. ?!?!?!? fake.

Why would no gain be bad. If using 14-15 or 16 bit RAW? Uncomressed/unclipped. I think this deserves a separate thread.

firstly the 1/180th limit was introduced only with the first P-TTL camera from pentax, before that they had something called the Z-1/Z-1p that had a limit of 1/250th TTL limit. The MZ-S came along with P-TTL and a 1/180th limit that every Pentax camera has abided to high or low. HSS is limited in power output. I would rather have a completely manual sync if possible. allowing for the physical limit of the shutter mechanism and not one imposed by P-TTL.

secondly, an isoless camera will give truly raw images at the base sensitivity of the sensor, at any speed/aperture combination. having any sensor pre-amped means that you can hit into clipping sooner/easier. recent Sony sensors give me the impression that it is possible to just apply digital gain in PP.

Pentax Real control camera.

Ok, so the terrible Nikon DF got me thinking. Its really lacking in the take back control department. And I thought the concept itself is not a problem, just the execution and price.
One of my ideas that I would like to see in a future camera with such a concept (please Pentax) is the ISO less (read gainless) camera.
The ability to actually play around with the sensor would be my idea of proper control. having absolutely no gain applied would mean low possibility of clipping. They could do this with a simulated jpeg and a proper ungained RAW. How about faster than x-sync syncing. 1/180th is probably a P-ttl limit. How about a CCD sensor ( even leica could not keep the Kodak sensor look when moving to CMOS)
Any other concepts that are not limiting that could be implemented.
Real K mount.
Undergaining. (even lower sensitivity) ?

P.S I do not mind having a camera only I can use.
