Has Ricoh stopped making Q-S1's ?

The latest official word from Pentax is that they continue to "support" the Q-S1; my understanding is that they have bodies and lenses stored away, and sell out of inventory. The question always is "what will they do when they run out of inventory? - Will they produce more or will they {quietly} stop selling them?". Periodically, @Adam or someone else from here will interview a spokesman for Pentax; as far as I am aware, they have not gotten a clear answer to this question, but at CP+ this past winter, they did tell another interviewer that currently K-mount is their priority.

Landscape A few more from Waterton Lakes National Park

Your images are great as usual.

They remind me very much of Glacier, of course. Glacier was largely developed by a railroad magnate, a man named Hill, whose railroad {known as the Great Northern RR} went right past the park, in order to build up passenger traffic on the route. Do you know anything about the history of Waterton Lakes NP?

What happens if I try to use modern lenses at f/22 only?

I know that diffraction would be a factor, but how much?

Has anyone looked at DNG files? Is there actually something there if I process them enough??

It's always good to hear that they are continuing to earn their reputation. I purchased my first SLR, a Pentax ME/SE, from them in 1979.

Well, with ten days to go, we seem to be about 23 hours behind, which is better than the 25 hours behind that we were last night. If we do the same for the next ten days, especially since some people will become all excited at the end, the whole things is entirely possible

One more question {until I think of another :)} ... how did you meter in a large underpass like #3? Did you just do it directly, compensate somehow, or do something else?

Yeah, you and the KP definitely nailed the details on this one - of course, the ISO was too low to get the 'accelerator' involved.

Cardinal colors seem to vary from individual to individual, but these look conceivable to my eye. The important thing to me is that the KP didn't "trash" the colors at this ISO, and after all the fussing here about the 'accelerator' I was wondering how you feel about the details its delivering to you.

Yes, and I've been carrying a FA 28-105mm in my bag, and I have a Sigma 70-300mm, so I'm all set for everything other than UWA. The big timing issue right now is that I'm retired already, my wife retires next year but will hold off collecting Social Security for a year because of how they calculate benefits, so our finances will be a tad complicated for the next year or so.

I didn't take any pictures today - I just exercised it using the RAW/Fx button - and to my eye it appeared to be completely closing down each time; right now I'm preparing myself mentally for the possibility I'll have to go all aperture-ring lenses for the next year or so .... but I just don't know and won't know until I actually get out there. I've always been a low-volume shooter .... 500 - 1000 unique images a year {I've never counted shutter count, so a burst of 5 counts as 1 in my mind}

Were you really tight on space for this one? You cut it rather close on the left and used a 28mm lens.

I like reflections - so of course I would like this - but in general the K-70 seems to have delivered good colors at this ISO. Coming from a K-30, how do you feel about the detail you are getting?

Sorry, Jorgario, but this does need an answer. At least it is keeping this particular thread high in the list.

As I continue to say, I raised my activity rate because the community as a whole was lagging. I get no great joy from this - I do have other uses for this time. I will revert to my normal rate once the community does raise its overall participation rate, particularly the part of the community that is most active here.
