Weekly Challenge 405 - Stick Season Winners

Nice job everyone! I tried to challenge you and I hope you don't mind a lot of constructive criticism in my comments.
It was a tough choice but a winner must be chosen.

So the winner is eva with this nicely executed and composed image. Solid work. Congratulations!

Second is Hattifnatt

Third is noelcmn

See below for your individual comments. Nice work everyone! Eva, the next contest is up to you!

sealonsf - I like this image, it reminds me of an Alfred Hitchcock scene.
WileyB - I'd day it is a landscape even though that wasn't required. Your concept isn't bad but the light conditions were not in your favor.
Vaskebjorn - not a bad image but maybe a little flat. Someting like a lower perspective to make the tree break the horizon might have been worth a try.
RGlasel - looks like a spooky old place. I would have liked to see the peak of the house just below the branches instead of behind them.
SpecialK - Another structure full of character and an interesting tree behind. Tough light here for sure.
Stavri - I like the different approach and it definitely shows us the season in some nice light.
Hattifnatt - Nice atmosphere here. Well executed too. My one criticism is the foreground fence should be in our out. A little crop would get rid of it.
atupdate - impressive lights and a good capture.
ramseybuckeye - a nice scene and I like the tree but wish the top wasn't getting lost in that cloud. Still good, but a slightly lower angle would move the top above the cloud would make it better.
jchorst - Definitely demonstrate the theme if not the prettiest leaf.
dlneubec - I like the drops and twigs. Definitely suits the theme. The background is slightly distracting but the bokeh helps.
eva - Good shot and just the right exposure to not blow out the sky and still get a well exposed foreground.
Barbara Fu - A little underexposed, looks like it's one of those meter-fooling situations we need to compensate for. Not a hard fix. Interesting building and different looking than the churches here.
StephenHampshire - Nice misty morning shot.
noelcmn - interesting scene and I like all the twisted shapes the trees make. Shadows could use just a little boost IMO to give it a little more depth.
rjbrett - I like the pattern of those branches and I would have probably gone with a mono treatment too.

I think I have 8 but I just culled out a couple that weren't holding a charge like they used to.
I got extra extras for climbing Kilimanjaro last summer where I wanted to shoot lots but there is nowhere to charge for a week. I think I used 4 in 7 days.

What would YOU consider a "clinical" image?

I think a clinical feel has a lot more to do with the photographer than the lens. But maybe some lenses make it harder to get that sterile effect.

I had an old iRiver I Rockboxed for the recording features that I recorded live shows with (and some nice mics, preamp+a/d converter). I sold that rig to buy camera gear. :)

This is mostly two steep pitches with a few hundred yards of relative flat terrain in the middle. A nice and pretty quick but intense cardio workout. 58 Minutes today.
Without me to hold her back Luna could probably do it in 15 Minutes. :)

I'm getting back in shape for the upcoming ski season so I took Luna on a nice lunchtime power walk today up W Mountain (933 vertical feet over about a Mile each way).
I think she enjoyed it!

I posted this in the K-1 thread but I'm not sure if you all visit that board so I'm including it here too.

I just got tagged in this Instagram post and thought I'd share. This image (on the right) was one I shot with Cinch Jeans last summer as a full page ad.

How do you tote your Pentax 67 or 645?

For my 645D I usually use a Timbuk2 Snoop Backpack. I usually have to choose between the widest and longest lenses to to fit bacause I need to leave either the 30mm Arsat FE or the A* 300 behind. But for all the regular lengths (A 35, A 200, FA 45-85, FA 80-160) everything plus one of those lenses at the extremems fits.

I just use a wrist strap and shoot from a tripod most of the time.

That's how I get around town most of the time too. I use a Crumpler Four Million Dollar Home shoulder bag (my "purse" :) ).
But when I hike I like to have the camera ready so I use a sling strap. That's when the lens band is needed with the 18-135.

I think I just got the regular but they may not be that brand. It's a "regular" sized lens, I think.
