Pentax ME SUPER - Lense stuck

If you shine a bright light near where the locking pin sticks up on the mount do you see it engaged? Does it retract when the release is pushed? If it's there but won't go back in you may be able to try very thin metal tools like spark plugs shims to work it down.

The various Pentax and even other brand Macro 50mm lenses will probably have the very best corner resolution available.

Check eBay completed items... The DFA is above $1000, and some Tamron's were below $300. If you find the DFA for not much more than $650+ buy it and be happy!

You say landscape, that can mean wide or telephoto or even normal. What's it mean to you? @doddle

Well June appears to have been a slow month. I donated $80 to my friend from conversions. Thank you - I appreciate the opportunity to add to what I could give him.

In July I will continue the same deal.

Is the D FA* 50/1.4 a Pentax/ Ricoh design or a Tokina design?

Assuming you are right what's to be done? My experience with crackpot theories is that they can't be pushed back with facts. Any reasonable explanation will be viewed as questionable and said to be riddled with falsehoods by the biased imaginations of those buying into the conspiracy theory.

I don't think posting the truth is without some value, but I do think incontrovertible proof isn't realistic because of the nature of the people involved. Finally, I don't honestly think anyone spouting this nonsense is a potential customer. Most are likely just looking for something to say and repeating something they saw. So the target should be to provide reasonable counter arguments that rational people can understand for those on the fence. Sow the seeds of truth, but expect the crop to fail to take root in those who believe the worst of Pentax.

This sounds like you are saying the release lever is jammed and not allowing you to fully depress it - is that what you mean? Or is the button working correctly and the lens is still stuck?

I agree, and I think afterPentax was just stating that a patent can be owned under circumstances that don't establish that they developed it. I don't get the impression anyone here is actually actively questioning the facts, and I think some people are over reacting.

The fact that patent ownership isn't itself sufficient to show design expertise is the root of the detractors arguments.
This is despite the clear indication that this isn't the case with this lens. I don't see anyone here saying the lens wasn't designed by Pentax.

To be honest I don't know what will convince some people. The moon landing hoax crowd is a great example of the lengths people will go to rationalize their beliefs. The landing happened, the proof is overwhelming, but there are those unable to believe that twist and distort every tiny thing to deny it.

Finally, what does it actually matter? If you like the lens, buy it. Who cares if it was designed secretly by Martian immigrants on Venus for the Plutonian empire's plan to discredit Pentax...

I'm not a patent lawyer but I've been involved in about 30-40 of them in recent years as an "inventor" (patent language not a qualification) and I can safely say my employer not me owns the patent. They could easily have employed another company to create patents for them, and they could assume the ownership but somewhere there would be some paper trail... But that might not be public.

What about Pentax? As stated all info points to them being the designers. Why on earth would anyone suppose the opposite is true? They have not exactly hidden past collaborations and they have a history of licensing designs to others on occasion.

Growing up I was taught moon rule was f8 at 1/iso which in the film era was probably acceptably close given exposure latitude.

On a trip to Paris and London I took a Panasonic LX-7. Of course that was in 2016 so it was a bit more relevant then, but it's equivalent range was roughly 24-105 depending on format of the aspect ratio etc. The 18-135 with the KP is roughly a 28-200mm perspective which should serve you well. The Panasonic while a faster lens has a slower smaller sensor, the KP should exceed the performance I got which was quite good for a travel camera.

I thought it was a mirrorless only design. The samples in the Sony article seem quite good.

A nicely up to date 28-200'ish with good quality but slowish aperture would be a great boon wouldn't it. Does any full frame system make a high quality compact lens like that?

Having owned both the A* 85 and the FA 77 I can safely say they have similar DNA. Jun really hit the marks with those. I wish we had been able to see what the FA 31 f2.4 would have been like even though I love my FA 31 - the size of the f2.4 version might have been worth it - and who knows what other interesting tricks it may have had.

I own far too many lenses. One legend I did own and sold off was my A* 85 in pristine condition. My reason we're all related to vision. My ability to manually focus it at that time was hit or miss. I bought an FA 31 and FA 77 from the sales proceeds. The 77 has not disappointed me at all. It is a baby 85 and does share the basic optical formula with autofocus and compact size.

But enough about that. I also own a da 70, which is slightly shorter a bit slower and tiny. Given your love of tiny (20-40 is a case in point) I'd go 21, 43, 70 with the 85 for special uses. But if you ever go full frame you will hate yourself for selling the 31 which gives a very similar perspective on FF as the 21 on your gear now with a faster aperture and interesting rendering.

Most of my teenage years were spent with a Nikkormat and a 50mm f2 lens. I was able to borrow quite a few exotic lenses from my dad's store or the Nikon rep on special trips but the 50 and a 2x teleconverter were the ones I owned that went with me everywhere.

A 50mm on a full frame sees perspective naturally. A super sharp very fast one opens up a lot of doors as well. I'm not surprised it works for you.
