I thought in camera corrections were only for the JPEG. Therefore do not apply to a RAW file.

But I could be mistaken.

Does creativity go down as format size goes up?

I do not think it ruins creativity. But some people have the mentality that buying the latest greatest will solve the creativity problem. If you have that mindset, then upgrading will do nothing and could make it worse.

Astrophotography via DSLRs being Challenged by Cell Phones?

Oh I agree. But it would be funny to have all these people want to take a Milky Way shot on their cell phone to go to some dark sky area. Just as long as it is not where I am shooting

Yes, but the 50-500 is harder to find. Or when I went hunting, I find my 150-500. So that is what I have.

I have heard that valley of fire requires you to camp there. No visiting to shoot the stars and leave. Nope, need a campsite. I have seen other state parks do that too, in Utah.

If you are also travelling with someone that has never gone, my dad always visits every single sulfur pot in the park. It was interesting when he did that with his mother.

Enjoy the park. I need to visit again. 5 hours away and it has been too long.

Meetup.com for a resource

Looking to meet up with photographers? Check out Meetup.com. I am part of a few photography groups and actually lead a Nightscape group with events throughout the year.

It is a good resource to find groups that interest you.

(An no, I am not paid to push this. I just saw the group and figured it is a resource that others might need. I have used it for work and fun.)

So what do you use to edit your Pixel Shift images?

There is so much contradicting information out there that I am not sure what works, or what actually just pulls the first image of the file and fakes it.

Shooting RAW vs DNG

I had thought there was a reason to do PNG if you are using software that supports it. This might be it.

But if you are using free software, I would think DNG is much more likely to be used in all those other programs?

Astrophotography via DSLRs being Challenged by Cell Phones?

There will always be those who will find this feature cool and think it is all they need.

Then there are people like us that keep wanting more and more.

The nice thing about this, is that you might get more people interested in this type of photography and then they will learn about light pollution and their cities and maybe do something about it.

Or maybe one day I will be in a desert far away from everyone and here comes a bunch of people with their cellphones to take a picture.

I do not need to hear that.

I hope to stick with my current lenses for 2020. I had so much GAS the last year that I need to just use the stuff I have.
