Yes. Same behavior of the mirror. But now I took shot after shot and the next one was the faulty mirror flipping. It stops and I continued to take shots.

I don't know if this is the reason, but make sure you disabled the SR from body.
For using the stabilization from the lens, SR from body must be disabled.

I have uploaded another samples. There are sounds in the back which I first suppose there are movements of the sensor. But appears in both cases, SR enabled/disabled, and now I have in mind that it comes from the gyroscope system, which gives you the levels (maybe I am wrong about that).
I can't find anymore the article about video capability where it's said about how SR works for K-3II in video mode. From there I got the idea that the Sensor Shift is used but not 100% and the rest is done digitally.

Neither in photo mode you cannot hear the mechanism moving, because the movement of the sensor it's very fine and quiet.
I hear only the body focus motor :D

You ever used a GoPro? I mean the top one. It's not fisheye, just very wide and it's customizable. And he does very nice job also indoor.

Yes you have it, but works differently. The software limits the movement of the sensor. Otherwise the movement it would be too obvious in the footage. And the rest is digitally processing. I have read about it in one review. And in the case of K-1 the video stabilization is 100% digitally done. The stabilization works very fine when you take photos with the K-3ii, and I guess with the K-1 is improved. Ok, there are lenses with image stabilization, tripods, ghimbals to resolve this. But how about Continuous Auto Focus during video shooting? You cannot even focus by pressing a buton.
Now this is a big minus for Pentax.
I know a person who switch to Canon 6D after using K-5ii and K-3ii. The main reasons were, a lot more accesible lenses(better prices) and much better IQ on video, and of course full frame.

When you make a video, whatever the subject will be, you will take sequences and then combine them in the final result. Sequence of 30min it's more than enough for continuous shooting.

Like I said, I like very much my K-3II for it's build quality, weather sealing and very good image quality when you take photos. For video it's good, but not so good if you want something more professional.
The image stabilization is good on photos, but for video in some cases it's not. For video, image stabilization from a lens is much better in case of my Pentax. I have found on the market a Sigma 17-50 f2.8 from the old series with image stabilization included :)

I don't blame Pentax if they do not want to include better video IQ on their cameras. But in my opinion, if they will do so and make them better also for video, they will gain more customers.
You need to satisfy the requests from the market in order to gain more money = money for investing in research and for buying new technologies.

Canon just released 1Dx Mark2 with 4k at 60fps and full-hd at 120fps. It's their top DSLR and expensive, but I guess it's only the beginning and in the future will see those specifications also on the below lines cameras.
There are a lot of video makers which preferred to use DSLRs, especially Canon, for their projects. Canon realised this for years until now and give them toys for that. Sony has their mirrorless good for video, but the lenses are very expensive.
I also like Pentax for the quality of bodies and weather sealing. The image quality is top.

If you have to do some professional video beside photos, forget about Pentax and buy a Canon 60D, 70D, 80D or 6D. I changed my K-5iis with K-3II also for manual control on video, but it doesn't mach Canon 60D on video. If on Canon you have image stabilization from the lens, on Pentax you have it trough the software (only in photo mode is used the sensor stabilization). And with software stabilization on Pentax if you want some detail video, like macro, you will get some nasty artifacts. Even if you use video tripod, in some cases you also need to enable image stabilization.
Another thing is that when shooting video you need to not use color degradation and custom white balance, because this will be edited trough video editing software. The sequences taken with Pentax needed more time on editing and my friend who do this always curse me and my Pentax. :))) In case of those taken with Canon 60D and Canon 70D it's another story. From the start the sequences look much different and more pleasing from the Canon.
Canon has the most powerful IQ on video using DSLRs, Continuous Auto-Focus, nice image quality, etc..
If you want to simply shoot some video in vacation for fun, it's enough what you get from Pentax K-3 and above.
It's just my opinion after using Pentax and Canon on video.

Ken Rockwell dismisses K-1 out of hand

My first camera was a Nikon D5100 because my cousin had also a Nikon. But before buying it I was looking at Pentax models and like them for quality build and weather sealing. After two years I decided to switch to Pentax, Pentax K-5IIs and love it.
Now I have Pentax K-3II because has also full manual control for video. I need this for a project which involved also video (not weddings and other events). I use it in the rain and snow without problems, super super camera.
I don't want to argue with you because I don't have your experience in Pentax usage. Ken it's wrong to insult the Pentax users, but I don't take in consideration those affirmations. I also want that K-1 to be a serious competitor to Canon and Nikon.
In my opinion Nikon has good technology but they are using low quality materials on their entry level cameras and relied much on China and Thailand makers(low quality). In case of Canon is another story because theirs entry level cameras have much better materials and construction and they make them in Taiwan(not China). The top ones are made in Japan in both cases. Pentax is above both, on quality materials and construction, solid cameras and I like this. Every maker has some features, specifications above the others.
All the best.

I didn't insult anybody fellow Roumanian. I simply put my opinion on this. I admit it's without full knowledge because I don't have Pentax lenses with focus motor inside. I have played with Canon cameras and lenses, with STM technology and it's awesome.
Thanks for the information about Pentax lenses.

Maybe Ken has right. Nikon and Canon have more experience in the full frame area. Theirs cameras have good performance on auto-focus, ISO, image quality, dynamic range, etc. Canon has the best DSLR cameras also for video shooting with Continuous Focus Tracking and Fast and Silence Focus with STM technology. I have a Pentax K-3II with 18-55 and 50mm FA. The auto-focus system is noisy and not so fast. I don't know which Pentax lenses have focus motor on them, how many there are and how they behave, how fast they will focus. Nikon and Canon have a lot of lenses with fast auto-focus system and very good optics. If Pentax wants to put a serious competition in full-frame area they need to work hard. Pixel Shift Resolution and Astro-Tracer are very nice features, but these cannot be a spear-head for Pentax, because you can use them only in few situations, on a tripod and still subjects and in the night shooting the sky.

My K-3II also has a mirror flap event but it happens only once. I have made a lot of photos since then without another event.
Also my camera is on the power switch issue black list, but the issue never appeared.

K-3 II + Manual Lens + Live View + Green Button = ???

I have set my Pentax FA 50mm to manual aperture and the green button doesn't have effect in live-view. Maybe it's a small step made by Ricoh to push the users towards newer lenses, or it's a technical reason which lead to this change.

I have also tried with a Revuenon M 50mm and in live-view it doesn't adjusted the shutter speed. But I have tried also with Pentax FA 50mm and with this lens it did adjusted the shutter speed, in both cases.

Pentax k-3 for video - is it good ? ( 5 questions )
Posted By OvidiuRoSb

I had sold my K-5IIs and wanted to purchase a K-3 only for the full manual video control. The K-5iis produced larger video files and with no control on the settings. For my videos I need to control besides the aperture, also the shutter speed and ISO. For having a cinematic motion in the movie you need also to correlate the shutter speed and the FPS number (shutter speed = 1/2*fps).
Now I am using the K-3ii for video with SR disabled. I am using always a tripod or a slider. The colors are not the same like on a Canon DSLR, but for this case I need to experience more.

The mirror flap issue has never occurred since then :) . I have read the official announcement about power switch problem and my camera's serial number is on the list. I will contact the Ricoh importer and service from my country to ask them if they have a service plan for this.
