Post your K-1 pictures!

At the last day of September I shot this one in a part of the woods near my home place, just beside some old tumuli (grave hills) dating from the 'Hallstatt' time (about 800 b.C.). It is one part of the forest that didn't suffer from the last (dry) summers that much. Other parts are a pain to walk through and see all the devastation, but that's another story ...

Misc First Pentax Digital Photo

It's good to see that even older Pentax digital camera models can easyly deliver astonishing results today. And they seem to last longer than many of us think.

I still have a K200D in my home, which I usw with older glass from time to time. I like the colours the CCD delivers.

Macro Common Blue in autumn

This is a small part of the picture from above in full resolution. You may at least get an idea why the Irix 150mm glass is a 'real performer' for me, and why the 24 MP of KP or K70 are enough for my needs.
The new APS-C camera will shurely be a very nice 'sweetheart' but let's be honest: the already existing hardware is really great!

... taken from tripod with self-timer (2 seconds) and pixel shift resulotion enhancement. Because of a little wind just one of 10 pictures gave me the desired result. But I'm very happy with it. Regrettably the uploaded picture cannot show the quality of the original photo.

I found this little butterfly this morning and was lucky to get 8 pictures from it with different range of sharpness. So I could stack them into this picture. Very fascinating those litte creatures indeed...

Macro Six-Spotted Burnets [Zygaena filipendulae]

Once again some butterflies. I think, the KP and the 100mm macro lens are a very good team: not heavy, and with a very good quality. The only thing I am missing is a focus stacking function ;) .

Have a nice weekend. :)

... not to forget that You have to fork out thousands of thousands to get adequate optics and even more: another thousands for a suitable computer equipment.
It's as useful for most photographers as a "Maybach" for drivers. Nice to see what's possible, but overkill for most of us...

IRIX 150 macro vs D-FA 100 WR macro ?
Posted By forest_bear59

Due to the internal focusing of the IRIX its focal length decreases when approaching the subject. At 1:1 it's about 120mm effective. Thus the focal length advantage shrinks at higher scale. Adding to this the compactness of the Pentax 100mm, its better performance wide open, the AF and focus shift I know what I would recommend...

But the IRIX isn't bad at all and is a pleasure to use. And after all even the little difference of focal length at 1:1 will help a lot regarding the flight distance of insects for example.

Macro (Not so) Common (any more) Blue [Polyommatus icarus]

It was difficult to catch this one due to windy conditions. Regrettably the number of butterflies decreases and so they are not so easy to find any more. Thus the thread title :( .

Macro Speckled Yellow (moth) [Pseudopanthera macularia]

This is a fusion of four pictures, which I have taken with the hope to stack them. Alas, there have been little movements between the exposures so there was the need for some retouching. I am not unhappy with the result but I know it can be done better. Next time ;) ...

Night Lunar eclipse

I moved to a nice location near my home to catch a bit of the mood during the totality phase of last Monday's lunar eclipse. Finding the correct focus was a problem, but at last I succeeded. Denoising was also difficult. I hope You find this picture acceptable. In the foreground it shows some dark buildings - the so called 'Kreuzkapelle' (Cross Chapel) and a private house nearby.

I would buy a used K-5ii, K-3 or a new K-P. So You can avoid the solenoid failure the K-30 (K-S1, K-S2, K-50, K-70) tend to develop from time to time. The K-P is one of the best (if not the best) APS-C reflex cameras You can get.

After 16 years I was lucky to find one of this species again near my homeplace. Regrettably the way farmers treat the countryside is very contraproductive for those beings to reach a greater population. They are - and will be - endangered.

Taken with the Pentax K-1 full frame camera and the 180mm Sigma macro AF lens from a monopod. Cropped a little bit.

I still enjoy this old workhorse. Even the LV function comes in handy - despite it's very simple design.

At this day everything fitted - except that no dedicated macro lens was 'on board'. Naturally *sigh* .

But what I found out: even with an ordinary super zoom lens you can get quite decent macro photos. And with the numerous attempts in mind, how often I tried to get a really satisfying picture of this species I am very happy with this approach.
