This is first quarter.

I have the Sigma version of this lens - Full Frame, 28-70, constant 2.8 and excellent EX DF model.
Discontinued, but can be found in Australia for around $350.
Consider it equal to my F50 1.7 in IQ.

I have F series 50mm f1.7 and 35-70 macro.
Both work very well on my K20 and the 50mm 1.7 is easily the best glass I own.

I use a Sigma 18-125 as a travel lens - good range, fairly small and light and gives above average results on my K20D.
Sigma EX 28-70 f2.8 works well as an indoor, low light and evening lens but is quite large and heavy but has very good IQ. Full frame lens that uses the better part of the lens on APS-C camera.

Newbie K-7 Question; Is This Normal?

Perfectly normal in sensor shift 'shake reduction' systems.
The sensor needs to be 'floating' to act in response to camera movement.

OK this is easy. DVDs are authored, in your region, to PAL standard definition 720 by 576 pixels. NTSC SD is 720 by 480 pixels for USA and Canada.

Brian,

Pentax "A" lens are not autofocus. They are permanently in manual focus mode and are absolutely perfect for trap focus operation.

Halogen lighting! Similar to Tungsten in temperature which give trouble with Pentax AF according to reports. Have you tried manual focus and/or onboard flash for your tests.

Sigma EX series lenses are very well regarded in the other camera brand worlds.

I have been using this lens on my K100D and K20D for about a year.
Consider it the best lens I have particularly for low light outdoor and indoor shots.
At f2.8 the sharp focus range is VERY small. Look at the attached image where the fingertips are very sharp but the lips and eyes have just missed - but not by much!
Image shot with K20D f 2.8, 1/90 and ISO 800 late afternoon natural light only.

I have taken over 5000 shots with my K20D in the last 6 months.
I have probably taken less than this with various film Slrs over the last 40 years!

This puts the change to digital in perspective.
