Hi, I try my lovely DA 15mm f4 on a a7iii via an adapter, the problem is DA 15 doesn't have an aperture ring so the lens is always at smallest aperture (close all the way down). Anyone has the same issue and know how to fix it, I want to shoot it wide open (f4) !
Thanks a lot !

Increase the exposure does help the model pop :) another way is to use 2 accent lights (or reflectors) to add some light to the edge of her dress to separate it from the dark background.
The model, the pose and the overall image quality is already very good though :)

Because they can benefit from the shorter flange to improve the lens design, ex: Canon RF 70-200 is smaller and sharper, the RF 24-70 f2 has wider aperture.... and of course new mount lenses will generate more profit for new milc system ;) ---------- Post added 04-04-20 at 09:15 AM ----------
if Pentax/Ricoh can make a good adapter for the new system people will be very happy as we all have lots of K-mount lenses and we stay because of the lenses ! Not sure if it will make profit for the new system but certainly buy more time for Pentax to build new lenses !

The EVF issue will be less and less important, peole can use smartphone (~60Hz) then they can use Evf/Liveview and I myself prefer the liveview for bigger screen, longer eye-screen distance.
Milc will be cheaper as they are mainly electronic parts and those parts are getting cheaper and cheaper (see the cheap 100$-200$ smartphone market righht now).
People from Canikon will jump ship (not changing brand but to Milc) and the market will be flooded with second hand flagship (Canon 5D series, Nikon 8xx series) at cheap price, Pentax will have a hard time competing with those when releasing a new Dslr (even worse if it's an Apsc one).
Ricoh/Pentax will have to think of a plan to deal with this new change !

Maybe not Pentax but Ricoh will release the next FF mirrorless, Gr3 already has many things done right for the milc (egornomic, AF, touch screen...), Pentax can help with the lens design or Pentax/Ricoh can join the L mount club and fill the low-price body slot that Sigma/Leica/Panasonic are not interested in.

Pentax may offer the low price body for the club, Sigma is all about making lens, Panasonic is video, Leica is...I dont know...marketing ?
As people already notice, the Gr3 is a good mirrorless and with touch screen too ! I think Ricoh is considering the option, maybe even negotiating right now 🤔

Milc has many advantages :
- Super fast and accurate AF (no front/back focus)
- Eye AF
- Correct exposure (what you see is what you get)
- Less moving parts (less point of failure)
- Bigger focus area
- Better tracking
- No blackout when shooting multiple frames
- Cheaper to produce (may leads to cheaper price in the long run)
.....
Leica is mirrorless now and has to team up with sigma & panasonic to compete with other players.

well, because we (forum posters) are the customers, the target of all those companies, Pentax for a long time didn't want to do FF (high cost, niche market, tough competition...) and a zillions of people explain why FF is not needed or why they never want a FF but in the end Pentax has to release the FF because there is no other choice (and everyone's so excited about that FF when it's finally released), same then same now. If Pentax wants to stay in the business then mirrorless is the way, just look around and see which other company hasn't gone down that milc route, none.

Dslr is dying slowly and Canon Nikon realize that, they have to jump on the milc ship or they will be the past, with those big players Canikony all promote mirrorless then people will expect "serious" company to have its own milc. Pentax has no choice but to jump on that ship too, new shooters are not gonna look for a dslr in 1-2 years from now. There is no other way around it, really, do or die !

i had a Tak 50mm f1.4 and a Helios 58mm f2, they are not famous for sharpness but rather smooth bokeh, when focus right, the focus point is razor sharp on my K3, so i guess the focus technique is important here, i use focus peaking and shoot a few shots each time just in case one is misfocus (the "film" is free) ;)

I'm very curious, is it technically impossible to make adapter for AF Pentax lens on Sony body ?

almost all the Limited prime lens are small and light weight, they can just upgrade them to Plm, what an amazing opportunity to refresh lens line up !

Yeah, just why, plm is fast and silent. It's a game changing for Pentax and can rival other brands. Why???

Many reason to like Pentax, good price, good image quality, rugged body, dual card slot, Ibis, and especially the lens: small, sharp where focused and creamy bokeh everywhere else (i shoot portrait). I can't stand the monstrous sized lens on mirrorless camera right now, if only they have the trio like 43, 31, 77.... and the switch is so expensive, i'd loose 1/3 to 1/2 of what i paid (main reason not to switch yet) !!! but now that i shoot my kids more the slow AF from Pentax body really slow me down in many cases, it's very sad. The fast and accurate eyeAF on mirrorless is just a game changer !

100% agreed ! Any camera that is easier to use, faster AF, quicker to upload to social media will win ! if it can make average Joe take high quality pics, imagine the pros with that same camera;) Apsc Dslr is the past, not sure why Ricoh don't see it yet, mirrorless is the future and it's easier to produce too (less moving parts, lower cost). I really love Pentax and want them to catch up with other big companies. Ricoh has the resource they just need to focus on the right path...

The Canon 5D is released in 2005, Pentax released the K1 in 2016. That's 11 years late !!!
So it's not that late yet if they release sth this year (which i doubt :( )
