get pentax branded tubes. sure they haven't changed since 1979, but they're the best... especially if you really start stacking them. no weird ghosting in the center of the image if you stack past 67mm, no aperture problems, no vignetting on ff. once in a while on ebay, you can find them cheap. the no contact auto tubes hold the aperture open to focus, and stop down when you press the shutter button... you have to use a lens with an aperture ring though. i have a set of kenko tubes with full contacts, but they're not as good... second best though, and the only ones with an A contact that i trust.

if you nail everything just right, iso 800 can be near iso 100 quality on the k-1... but if you don't nail everything, iso 100 gives is more forgiving in post.

i'd settle for some -not from 1975- extension tubes. the pentax branded ex tubes work wonderully on ff, but they lack any contacts... so unusable on lots of lenses. all 3rd party ex tubes/deglassed teleconverters with contacts will (at over 30mm extension or so) vingette on ff and/or cause weird hazy/ghosting in the center of the image and possibly cause a lack of contrast. the pentax tubes do not.

a newspaper photographer was at an event i was volunteering at, and he had an eos 1d x. he was taking audio notes with it... asking people to spell their names, etc. i've always thought it would be a good idea, but didn't know any camera maker actually did it. this might even be possible through firmware? can assign a button for it. another thing about the newspaper photographer... he was using some wide angle L glass and the corners of the frame are horrible! not acceptable!

the real measure of the lens may not be known for years... when ff is at 60+mp... then it might be easier to tell the difference the old lenses and the new.

thanks! yeah, finding lots(2) of molts this time of year. for large spiders, some owners glue the molts back together, and you can't tell it isn't a whole spider.... thinking of this guy, who's also a photographer:
