KAF4 mount support for all capable cameras

Pentax has long kept loyal users due to compatibility with various lens mounts. Now that KAF4 mount support has been provided for the K-3 and K-50, how about the K-5 II and IIs, the K-01 and any other model that's hardware compatible with the KAF4 mount. Please don't let us down.

It shouldn't be a question of raw profit. It should be a question of supporting users. The code is already done, it shouldn't be that a big deal to insert it into any camera firmware for cameras that are hardware capable. As far as cost goes though, how much do they lose by alienating users (like me) who have supported Pentax for 50 years to great extent because of stellar lens compatibility? If it's not possible, then it's a different matter. We need a statement from Pentax concerning this issue.

Ricoh quiet about K3 2 Successor

Think about how the human psyche works. The more unsure someone is of their viewpoint the more they need to convince others that they're right. Getting others into their opinion "club" confirms to them that they're correct. This is especially true of externally based people (far in the majority). We see this in all kinds of human behavior: politics, fashion, religion, products (cars, phones, cameras, even houses). Industries are based on this phenomenon. Perhaps the strangest is religion where often the proponents are so insecure in their beliefs that they have to go to great lengths to convert or even kill others to remove the dissenting views and "prove" to themselves that they're right. Somehow they attribute (project) the worst human traits (anger, jealousy, revenge, etc.) to their GOD. Emotion short circuits rational thought and masks the subconscious insecurity. We all do it to one extent or another. The only "cure" is to be mentally vigilant (metacognition). A key factor to remember about human behavior is that the more unsure someone is of their viewpoint, the more emotion will be projected in an attempt to override their rational mind. Keeping this attribute of human behavior in mind may be helpful to some when reading forums.

You guys are getting off the track with the expensive lenses. See the snippet by the OP above.
This was in reference to the 18-135mm which with some looking around can be had in good shape for about $250.
(Although the 40mm XS alone might be a good choice at around $150.) Small, light and sharp.

As would I. Not to mention that the 18-135mm is fast, durable and quiet.

This thread is amusing. All the gnashing of teeth and wailing about Pentax being so far behind.
Over here the Nikon people are wailing about being behind Pentax (and at a higher price):

Question about Pentax as a brand

Per your preferences: If you want to avoid an articulated screen, then the K-3 II is a great choice. Light weight = APS-C. Top build quality with top grade WR, KAF4 compatible. Good high ISO but probably not as good as the K-70 which has non-pro (but very good) build quality and articulating screen. Note that the K3 II has a GPS instead of onboard flash. The K3 has the flash (no GPS) but also can not use the new KAF4 lens if that matters to you.

If you want to go cheaper, there's perhaps a good used K-5 II or K-5 IIs that meets your specs.

To answer the last question, most of us are here because we like Pentax. I personally don't think that there's a better combination of build quality, features, image quality and value.

Like others, zip-lock (or any other small plastic bag) keeps them clean, isolates the contacts and keeps things from scratching/rubbing against each other

The better high ISO performance (and low light level AF?) should be a big plus indeed. Any difference in shutter sound compared to your K-50? What lens were you using?

Do you save SD cards when filled?

Transfer images to my home network, delete unwanted photos, back up the whole photo library to multiple machines. Then reformat SD card in camera or delete all but a few images. Memory cards are not reliable in the long term. The only way to be fairly safe is to do multiple backups and preferably keep one backup off site. A cloud service like Google would also work for this. Ended up with > 1.1 TB of free storage from Google after buying a Chromebook and taking advantage of their Xmas storage gift. Haven't even scratched the surface of that but also it runs out in 2 years. Hoping that they'll continue to renew the offer...

Don't know about the rest of this hypothesis, but my K-01 has uses a DL-I90 Battery, same as the K-3, K-5, K-5 II, K-5 IIs, K-7. The K-30, K-50, K-70 and K-500 use the smaller DL-I109 Battery.
