What goes around comes around.

Been years away but now I'm back. Had a feel of @lenticular 's K1 today and I was curious. Noting there was an FA31 mounted - one of the only pieces of gear I ever regret selling (and I have cycled through literally hundreds of bits of kit over the last decade and a half) sealed the deal. Some wheeling and dealing required on my Leica or Mamiya film gear but I fear I'm coming back to the fold. Thinking of replacing the line-up with a clutch of Pentax glass to interchange between digital (K1) and film (LX or MX) bodies. :hmm:

Keen to hunt down some of the old gang and the disparate Aussies

Mourning the Loss of Bruce "Bramela" Stephenson

My God I don't know what to say. Bruce was with me from the first day that I started the very first "Singles In.." challenge back in September too many years ago. Since then we have traded Pentax goodies, joked and disagreed on here, and…I don't know what to say..

Though all those camera goods are long gone and forgotten, Bruce will not be, by me.

He was a true Aussie gentleman.

What a sad day! My thoughts to his family and loved ones...

not sure on the sizing convention with portrait orientation, so opted for what fit best on my little screen. Hope you still get an impression...

Game 12 Days of Christmas

Following on the success of Single in September (they even made a book from our adventure ;)) - and now Single in November - I am proposing another photo challenge for the Forum....if others are keen.

12 Days of Christmas.

The rules are simple a photo a day starting the 14th December with whatever lenses you have in your arsenal with each shot capturing a little of the environment that makes up Christmas from your side of the world. As an Aussie you can look forward to some blazing hot shots with a few prawns thrown on the barbie...and I'd love to experience what a White Christmas looks like from our Northerly friends. Of course, you don't need t be a practising Christian to join - otherwise I'd be out myself - but just keen to share a perspective and share the experience from your corner of the globe.

So just gauging the interest for now. If there's enough, then I'd propose getting the admin in order by late November/early December in readiness.

Looking forward to seeing what y'all think.

One Lens Challenge: Want to join my LBA Therapy?

My pleasure guys. :D

I do receive a notification. It comes up in the Private Messages area in the top right hand corner - stating "Unread Picture Comment/s". Of course, this doesn't notify of updates on my comments to others photos, but certainly does let me know if any of you have commented on anything in my Album.

Is this not the same for you all?...or have I misinterpreted? :o

One Lens Challenge: Want to join my LBA Therapy?

I may not have suffered LBA as long as many others here, but I've certainly fallen hard to the sirens call over the last year. So I thought it's time to take a stand. Step one is to admit you have a problem! Next step is to, along with your support group, fight it! ;) So I'm thinking of a challenge that flies in the face of this addiction and I wondered if anyone else cared to join me for some therapy?

What I am proposing is "Single in September".

The challenge would involve posting one photo each day with the one lens of your choice....sort of like golf's one-club challenge.

Sounds simple enough....but how will this help exorcise LBA?
1. you will have to get very acquainted with that one lens;
2. you will have to spend less time researching other lenses and more being creative with the one on hand; and
3. you will have to take a photo every single or weekend, rain or shine, you and your body and lens of choice must engage with the world daily. So focus here on photography and not equipment.

Prime or Zoom?
It doesn't really bother me. Personally, I'm going with a prime to really test my creativity and composition, but there is no reason why you couldn't go with a's still the one lens.

So why wait so long?
Well I thought if others wish to join me then September will have something for us all. Us Southerners will be witnessing the onset of spring and Northerners the start of autumn.

Also I thought this would allow time enough to gauge how many others are interested and work out the space and boundaries of the challenge. For instance, if there are only a few of us, then we can simply post on a thread. If there are more we may need to ask Adam how the growing diary albums can be hosted....and if the Forum is still the best place for it? If there is interest I'm happy to work with the moderators during August to ready the space for our personal accounts and photos of the month.

And hey...
I suppose at the end of the day, if we fail to beat the addiction, we will certainly have done some thorough lens testing with solid empirical evidence that will be a legacy for coming generations ;)

So that's it in a nutshell. Now I'm looking forward to hearing whether anyone else is up for the challenge.

For the record, my single in September will be the DA35/2.8.

Let's make a collective album for this.
