Absolutely jaw dropping.... I love to see the suspension details and aero appendages, and to see the inside front tire lifting in hard corning. The dynamics of F1 are best presented in motion, and you have captured it so well. Looking forward to more.

Streets Woman At Mango Store

A set of three one-handed, point and shoot candids shot from my car. Trusting my intuition, not taking my eyes off the street, I shot some wide angle shots to be reviewed later. These seemed interesting to me. All three were cropped down from larger images.
1. Young woman hurries along to catch up with her friend.
2. I think the young woman told the man that she will give him a discount if he will do the chicken dance.
3. A young woman tends the mango store, on a hot overcast afternoon in the Philippines. No customers, and she looks as though her mind is somewhere else; but I think she saw me.

I shoot wide angle, then decide what to pick out and keep. This was it.

Streets Sunlight On Narrow Street

As common as daily life has become, I am finding new ways to see and interpret ordinary scenes. The afternoon sunlight is always warm and bright here in the Philippines, and it creates interesting contrasts with the shadows. This scene was shot at 4:59 PM, viewed from the shadows on the south side of the street. The way the sunlight fell on the overhead wires got my attention, but I found more surprises in the details when I put it on my computer. Late afternoon, the last hour before dusk, when the Sun is still above the horizon and casting wonderful light is one of my favorite times to shoot. I love the dirty, dusty feeling it adds to street scenes.

Lately, I'm shooting only in Shutter Priority (Tv), and I find my images are sharper due to freezing the motion at the higher speeds. I'm shooting up to 1/1500 second and selecting auto ISO to let my camera have more freedom. For editing, I applied a warming filter to the area illuminated by sunlight, and not much else other than cropping.

Location: Outside Gaisano Grand Mall in Lapu Lapu City, Philippines.

It was more of a training exercise than a work of art...a technical challenge, to help me practice night shots.

Thanks. My older camera and lens are a perfect match. They work well together. The challenge is for me to do may part.

Thanks for the comment. Sometimes I think I'm the only one who can see this stuff. It fascinates me, and I have to try and catch a little of it as it goes by. I have been here nearly five years and I still see things through my foreigner eyes. That's my filter. It catches everything that seems a little unusual or interesting to me; things the locals don't notice because it's ordinary to them. I don't want to loose this filter. It drives me to keep shooting.

Thanks. I do very little to enhance the colors. The lens and camera deserve most of the credit, though I sometimes push things a little in post. I find that bringing up the mids and highlight a little gives great results without looking over-processed. This is better than global changes that affect everything. I'm no expert, but I'm learning that less is more, when it comes to working on my photos. However, I did use some perspective correction to straighten up the vertical lines in the first image, because my camera was pointed slightly upwards, which distorted the vertical lines. I also think I'll shoot in shutter priority next time I shoot from a moving car.

Thanks for the kind words on my gear. Yes, I finding both camera and lens have hidden talents I'm just now discovering. I appreciate them now more than ever, when I see the prices of the new equipment. I'm retired and have a limited income, so new equipment is out of the question. That's why I find more ways to get more out of my old stuff.

Thanks for telling me what they are. I'm terrible at such things, but think they are beautiful even if I don't know their names.

Agree. The shadows and contrasting light beams are essential elements that define the soul of these images. Resist the temptation to bring up shadows, in order to make an image look "normal". Normal is too ordinary. Drama lives in the shadows.

Streets From The Driver's Window

Once in a while, I drive slow and shoot the local street scenes from the left side, driver's window. I'm usually stopped due to traffic issues ahead of me, but sometimes can manage a one-handed shot while moving....real point-and-shoot style. All of these images are shoots from the hip, without looking through the camera. I have to keep my eyes on the road. I rely on automatic settings for this, but usually have my camera in AP mode.
I had to do some perspective correction to restore vertical lines to the moving shots, in PaintShop Pro X8.
These images were shot in mid-afternoon, 22 January, 2019; under an overcast sky.
Location: Mactan Island, Cebu, Philippines.

I don't normally shoot flowers, but I came upon a garden by surprise. It was a windy day under an overcast sky. The light was good but the wind moved the flowers a lot, and I had to time my shots when they appeared to be steady. I relied on autofocus, automatic ISO and WB in AP mode with Image stabilization on. I had recently adjusted my custom image settings for extra sharp focus, and it gave me outstanding results with the flowers at a range of three to four feet. The flowers are real world, every day flowers, wearing no makeup in an outdoor setting. Most of the pollen has blown away, but that's what makes it honest. (Date: 23 January, 2019)

I like it. It suggests a story, to be filled in by imagination.

It reminds me of some places I saw in Russia, many years ago.

It took me a moment for my brain to figure out what this is. I think it's the vertical cropping and the absence of color that threw me off.
