Ahh thanks! Skye is well worth a visit and if the weather plays ball, it's not all about rugged coastline and near vertical hiking trails. Hope you get to visit again and get some sun as well. Here's a couple from the relaxing side of Skye in the nice weather this week. Both D-FA 24-70.

A trio of x-posts from the K-1 thread from me, 15-30 on the shoreline in Skye. Always interesting how moving just half a step can give a very different view in wide angle.

New year's day walk with K-1 and D-FA 24-70 at Dunham Massey, England. Sometimes, I am really happy with the 24-70, other times.... I don't get it quite right somehow.

Both superb, you inspired me! I’m going to dig those two lenses out this weekend and let them argue with the DFA*50.

I'm with Lightroom/PS and pay the subscription...They are my main bread and butter RAW development and editing applications. The subscription model is annoying but with the deals you can get it hasn't (so far) cost more than I used to pay in update fees. And some of the features I really thought were missing in Lightroom have been added over the last year or so.

I also have DXO Nik Collection (use that a fair bit), Luminar, and Aurora HDR. All those were supposed to be 'pay once' purchases, but have needed paid updates (at a cost) from time to time to get new versions at times (keep it working on more recent equipment/operating systems and get new features). I usually subscribe to the emails and wait till there's a really good offer to get the updates.

Basically I think it's a question of 'pick your poison'. There's plenty of options available, and almost all of them have a LOT of good points nowadays!

I try to choose ones that will persist in the marketplace because having to change is a pain. If you have years of work saved in a format that gets discontinued it is a bad situation.

Just my 2c!

Well, if you don't *have* to sell them, they end up building up. Yes I love the portability of the DA*55, but with A50 1.2 and Revuenon 55-1.2 here on hand too.....it's not really very compelling to keep them all.

No need to decide immediately anyway here, think I will hoard for a bit longer. There's something just very natural about the DA*55 images that I do love.

This series has been so well executed. I am inspired to take some photos of my watches now, I don't think they are as box fresh as these, but maybe by the time I have cloned out every tiny scratch and dust particle they will look passable!

Absolutely. I was all ready to sell mine this week, offset the cost of DFA*50.. Might get triggered to hold onto it!

I think you have to, shame itís *quite* so long but it does keep the raindrops off the front element!

I just suck it up and carry it too, unless I have the 150-450, itís an either or. Itís worth it.

I had both for a while. I didn't make very direct comparisons/test shots but I can offer some impressions on using both on FF.

For me, 70-200 is sharper, faster, more accurately focusing, with nicer bokeh and basically no appreciable vignetting. You pay in cash, weight and size, sadly. Also flare resistance is not always as good as I would like. On sunny days, you really have to use the hood, even if the sun is not in the frame, which adds significant length.

60-250 has ok bokeh and centre sharpness, but vignetted a bit too much for my comfort on FF and I didn't want to make the baffle modification to improve this, although it seems pretty simple. I did feel that AF speed and accuracy was not really great at times. It's often priced as something of a bargain nowadays, especially s/h. The size/weight/performance ratio is good, if you do a lot of hiking this could really make sense.

I would probably have kept 60-250 if I was holding on to a crop body, where it makes a very light combo for the range and performance (and can also be paired with the 1.4x teleconverter pretty effectively). But, once I passed on my K-3, I felt that having both, as well as the 150-450 was just overkill.

Love the filigree detail on the tree. 24-70 feels so underrated sometimes. A few from me, X-Posts from K-1 thread.

24-70:

24-70 Pano (6 shots x 2 exposures):
