Adorama re-selling defective gear?

Funny, my experience has been just the opposite. Over the past 2 years I've purchased 14 lenses including 15-30, 24-70 2.8, 70-200 2.8 and others, from eBay and all of them have been perfect or damn near so.

I guess YMMV.

I received word yesterday that two of my 12 submitted images to the Orange County Fair have been selected for the fair's photo competition.

Surprisingly neither of the ones chosen were what I would consider my strongest work submitted.

Here are the two accepted submissions:

Thanks to all who helped me select what to submit. I'll let you know later this summer if I win any ribbons/awards.

Can someone explain this memory card discrepancy

Okay, Mea Culpa. I screwed up. While I thought I had 64GB cards in one and 128GB cards in the other, I actually had two sets of 128GB cards. So the minor difference between the two is minor 1618 vs 1569. That can be easily explained by the formatted capacity of the two brands Samsung (1618) Patriot (1569).

Thanks and again I apologize.

Can someone explain this memory card discrepancy

I've been an owner of the K-1 for 2 years and I've been using dual 64gb cards in it with no problems. When formatted they show a capacity of 1618 shots. Not a problem and in line with my expectations.

I decided to rent a K-1 Mk ii for a trip and decided to get 128gb cards for it and to use those in my original K-1 when the rental was up.

Now comes the strange part. In both the K-1 mk ii and my original K-1 the capacity being reports for the 128gb cars is 1569 shots. Why are cards with double the space showing up with less capacity in both cameras? I'm guessing the K-1 has no issues with large cards, but this baffles me.

Can anyone explain this to me?

LR post processing - Camera Profiles

I too shoot RAW on the K-1. As to the use of camera profiles, my use is it depends. If I'm processing a set of Landscape images I'll typically set them all to landscape initially so I have a starting point to go from, but I'll also frequently change the profile as I go along. Similar for Portrait etc... I think Vibrant tends to be too saturated for my tastes bright is okay,

I want to thank everyone who helped me finalize my selections for the 2019 county Fair. There were two images that I knew I was going to submit so I did not include those in the choices.

I took suggestions here and elsewhere and some of them include cropping some images more than I had originally. I took those suggestions to heart.

Here are my final selections for the fair.

Hi All,

Over the past few years that I've been a member of this forum I've asked for help in culling down my photos to submit to the local county fair. I ask for your help again in choosing the best 10 or so images to submit.

Thank you for your help.

UPDATE: Since people here and elsewhere suggested a I crop a few of these I've done that and posted them under the originals for comparisons. I think a couple of them work better cropped, so Thanks for the suggestions.

I took the K-1 and it's friend the Pentax 150-450 to the LA Zoo over the weekend. Here are a few of my favorites from the outing. I'm amazed at how sharp this lens is.

Make sure you're using the high performance GPU if you have one, also under preferences try setting it to use the CPU instead of the GPU and see if that makes a difference.

Yes there's a Denoise slider as well as an add grain slider. Adding grain is a lot more subtle then I'm used to.

I wondered the same thing so I brought the TIFF back into LR and did a quick exposure, contrast, vibrance, and saturation adjustments on them and got it back to what it should be.

A few months ago I heard about this new program from Topaz Labs called Sharpen AI, which is supposed to use machine based learning to sharpen photos better than anything else.

It handles Sharpening, Motion blur, and focus blur. I decided to try the 30 day trial and I have to admit I'm impressed with the results.

Below is a comparison the original Light room version and the Sharpen AI version done with Stabilize (motion) and Focus blurs removed.

I noticed the color difference between the two versions. I'm still figuring out the best workflow for this, as it has to be exported from LR/PS to work, so I might do this step first and save to TIFF then continue processing.

I'm only sorry I missed the introductory price. but for $80.00 it does a hell of a job.

Is anyone else here using it? WHat have you found as the best workflow?

I spend plenty of money on her, and she is aware of it. LOL. We keep our finances separate so I don't know what she spend on purses and she has no idea what I spend on camera and astronomy gear. :D

If my GF ever realized how much I have spent on lenses the past two years....

All except the 28-105 & pinhole were purchased on the 2nd hand market. My latest (and hopefully last) acquisition was the FA* 300mm f/4.5.

I both love & hate eBay.

FA 100mm f3.5 or D-FA 100mm f2.8 (non WR)?

I have the Vivitar version of the FA 100 f/3.5 Macro and I can say it's a decent lens optically despite the cheap feeling plastic build. I've since upgraded to the new WR 100mm f/2.8 Macro and do find it superior, but the older 3.5 is still good.

I'm willing to part with mine if you want it.
