I never buy new, but I've been waiting for a lens like this since the k1 came out. It looks perfect. And comes in my favorite color too.

Still have my first k1000 from when I was a kid. Still run a roll through it from time to time. Like an old pair of work boots that feels right and just somehow never wears out.

I have almost no pp skills and often struggled with color, but after I got the k1 and the limiteds, I haven't really had to worry about it.

I'm out for the duration. Everyone's done wonderfully this month, I just ran out of steam with the holidays and getting sick and whatnot. Kind of in a funk too, probably take a break from photography in general for a while. Maybe I just need a new lens....

Cheers all and happy holidays.

Been battling a nasty cold this week, getting the house ready for the holiday parties and normal work, so am losing steam a bit for photo stuff. Now is either time to rally or go crawl back under the covers....

My experience is mostly on K1. Fantastic lens, don't be afraid to use it wide open. The pixie dust, to me is mostly in how it translates color. It's subtle but exquisite. But yeah, portrait snaps, small groups and details, set it at 2.8 (or maybe wide open for apsc) and you're good to go.

Possible trip to San Francisco in late July suggestions for activity solicited

July in SF is likely to be very foggy and downright cold. I'd go north a bit to Marin headlands for sunset/moonrise; kayaking on Tomales Bay; Pt. Reyes lighthouse.
South along the coast to Monterey Bay, there's lots to do as well.
In SF proper my fav areas are Golden Gate park, with the conservatory of flowers, arboretum, and academy of sciences. And the de young museum. Ocean Beach. Telegraph hill. Little Shamrock is a cozy pub. Bring a normal zoom, long zoom and a warm jacket.

We had a little rain lately so of course a tree immediately falls on the power lines which means road closed and no power/internet for the past couple days. Things were starting to get a little weird up here in the mountains. Our neighbor was blasting- I mean FULL ON rock concert volume- classic christmas music today.

Catching up in the morn.

Loved seeing everyones work this month. I have a soft spot for the supers and have been slowly building up a little Super-Takumar kit and the 35/2 has been part of my personal lens road map for some time. It can do the vintage film type look really well. Wide open it's a bit soft, low contrast but in a very pleasing way IF the lighting is mellow. I haven't shot actual film with it yet but will get around to it eventually. It's actually sharp enough if you zoom in, but due to the low contrast shots sometimes don't look sharp. Overall an interesting lens to work with, somewhat difficult but the thing it does, it does perfectly.
