Some noticeable purple fringing on the grape vines with high contrast on the top Canon shot. Quite a difference in the sky and green plants.

Great job dad!

I remember trying a manual focus camera back in the day and it just didn't make any sense to me then so obviously you've done a good job teaching them.

I don't know why the sudden "price drop", Amazon has this for $23.50 today. Kodak Professional Ektar Color Negative Film ISO 100, 120 Size, Propack of 5, *USA*: Camera & Photo

I pick up 2 packs since over $35 is free shipping. Wife don't allow me to buy more. :)

Just sharing the 'deal'.... as we know they aren't going cheaper down the road...

First roll of 120 film developed today! 9 out of 10 frames are good! (1/10 is blurry and is a repetitive of one of this, so didn't include it).

Frame were cropped from 6x7 to 4x6 for print, even I have told the store to print the 'full image' and leave blank as necessary.... Now have to scan the negatives to get the full image! Will do it this weekend. :D

However, it appears that Kodak Ektar 100 is too saturated to my taste. For those who have more experience, is this the right tone and saturation for Kodak Ektar 100?
Gotta try Portra next.

Shot with K5 + DA*16-55mm.

While I thoroughly enjoy my DA* 300mm, I would have jumped on this had I not just spent as much as I did on that DA.

Then you haven't seen Coolscan 9000 + Nikonscan ICE at work particularly with a badly scratched up negative. I couldn't even match the cleanliness of it's ICE in post processing particularly when you consider it takes less then a minute to do it so unobtrusively as shown below.

Link to larger version ->

Fortunately the fine scratches from the Coolscan V & 5000 don't even show in very large poster prints.

I see.

I never took to those changing bags. I much prefer going into a bathroom with no window, stuffing a towel under the door and hanging a black cloth over it. I then use the shower curtain rod to clip my film to (120 film) and remove the backing paper. I just like the extra space to do that task and I never have touch the film surface much at all (only the edges). :o

Thanks! A coworker of mine gave me an enlarger and other darkroom supplies, I think the only thing I need are chemicals.
I'll look into the group, thanks a bunch and keep up the good work!

Oh yeah, and there is nothing wrong with the music.

Basically it has been custom cut to size from an original Canon ee-S screen by
Trust me, you won't regret having the screen... Considering the K30 is priced together with the S screen, this is a very good deal!

It does not affect live view function at all, or even the metering unlike other 3rd party focusing screen.

Nature Nesting area of the Sharp-shinned hawks

This is one more outing to the sharp-shinned hawk "habitat".
It seems that they decided to stay there for nesting because I saw one of the two (couple) carrying branches to a very large and tall tree in a mixed forest. I will not attempt to get any closer and will take shots only "when available" ... they are decidedly nesting right there.
Here is one more shot of the same bird (not idea which one is male or female this time around); they have become very quiet with just a very faint "call" once in a while, not the shrieking alarm call.

Metering Question
Posted By SOldBear

The LX has OTF (Off The Film) metering. It measures the light reflected from the film during exposure.

Without the film inside the camera, the LX measures the light reflected from the pressure plate, which has different reflectivity from that of film. This may account for the difference compared to the ME. When I still had my LX, its metering (without film) didn't match my Minolta light meter either (my LX had just been calibrated by Eric).

As you mentioned, the difference between the EOS 1V and the ME may be caused by metering method (spot vs center-weighted).

It might be that the dog clutch on the shaft is jammed in the top of the canister.
The teeth on the canister might have bent tangentially and are now grabbing the clutch and preventing it being pulled out

B&W Paterson Tank What am I doing wrong?
Posted By blackcloudbrew

It's very hard to tell from these negatives much of anything. I assume the one on the right is the problem one. If so, it looks like you didn't fill it enough as the right edge of the right negative doesn't look developed. I've had the problem in my Patterson tank (it's not the tank it's the measurement). It also looks to me that the right negative needs more hypo time and is not clear. You can try re-hypoing the negative until the pink goes away. The pink negative gives it away. That's as much as I can say.

Where to Get Film Developed

Thanks for the clarification. I'd heard elsewhere that WalMart was developing, scanning and then discarding the negs, apparently without asking the patron. Sad that so many folk nowdays don't realize that CDs or DVDs "permanence" is uncertain. Better a shoebox full of loose negs than an ureadable shiny disk.

As a retired librarian I worry about these things.:)

That right there makes me hesitant to buy anything from them. Who cares if there warranty is great if they don't get it right on the first try with regularity?

Having to rely on a warranty should be the exception, not the excuse.
