Fujifilm invested in MF system to not compete directly with Canon, Nikon. Sony. Same reason why Pentax kept MF for the time being. I do not think that Pentax will continue with 645. DSLR niche with k-mount cameras should work. K-mount development is already slow, without serious efforts, 645 is dead.
MF now sees Fujifilm, China Hasselblad, Phase One systems, I would not bet on any of these system to survive many more years.

Travel: go small
Like * glass andparameters, go for / wait for DFA*
FA Ltd are not up to date wrt AF, weather sealing, purple fringing... max 1/f is not super large.
DFA* are large, heavy, expensive and draw differently from the Ltds.
I am waiting for DFA 21, but even more for a DFA* wide angle in the 28/35 range.

Not many Pentax wide angles available for K1, but a nice 11-18 for real estate with APSC :-)

Two completely different lenses. Both very well made. Zoom is better at native 450 mm. If you only compare by „sharpness“ you are missing out a lot.
Zoom is long and heavy, has slower f-stop. Zooming is more versatile. 300 is small for its class, slow AF, very nice package, f/4.
You can all the info above in reviews here.

We are spoiled... K3iii would be much fatter with an articulated screen, heavier and more expensive. That’s it.

It is a lot more than semantics, but just by looking at the wording, you will not find out what each system does exactly or what the difference may be. Phase correlation is another possible name. Bring two sets of information on top of each other and align them as good as possible for an exact alignment. The algorithm should do that quickly. Quick and reliable calculation plus prediction where to find the best match is the art behind the math.

All your lenses on K1 should land close to zero or distribute evenly around zero. Otherwise get the camera adjusted. If only one lens is off, get the lens adjusted, things happen.
Be careful with tightened quick release screws in the tripod thread, they messed up my results. With and without screw fixed the results varied by 8 steps or so. I had my K1 „fixed“ afterwards, but suspect that this is a weak point.

There is no official method and we do not know how Pentax uses the adjustments for individual lenses. Perfect infinite focus may not fit well for close range focus. Test the distance, f-stop and zoom settings you need and go from there. My portrait lenses are not optimized for infinity and wide open, my zooms are set for a decent result at all focal lengths wide open. A super tele should be calibrated at long distance.
Target size s also important 40x focal length is not always best.
Sigma allows for different correction in different focus ranges with PK dock.

Pentax has released some serious stuff lately. DA* 11-18 is a high end wide angle zoom that will sell in smaller numbers than a rebadged 24-70. DA* 16-50 will make the release of the K3iii much more complete and an updated 50-135 is obviously in the pipeline. A new APSC camera with all new * zooms all from Pentax. Nice.
FF gets updated ltds and has already seen two * primes, recently. Nice as well.
Pentax is not a bargain brand and produces some serious gear these days. Smaller spec bases are covered fine, these guys do very well.
Some more exotic glass would be nice as well... let’s buy more Pentax to see more releases.

Not sure what the last sentence of the article means... upgrade? You add a K3iii to your K1, you do not upgrade.

Hm, time concentrate on zooms for DA and concentrate on *-primes for DFA. DA* super-wide and standard zooms look great. DFA 24-70 looks aged in comparison.

If yourself out of ideas and need money quickly, design a J.
Hasselblad would offer different colors.
Leica lives on limited editions.
Simple wins are no t easy for everyone though. Just do this or that type of talk does not help.

The K1 (II) is bulky and heavy. Others are heavy or bulky or heavy & bulky. All these cameras do their job quite well. Reviews are subjective and you should handle a camera before you buy it.

[ It is not the speed of the engine, but also the smart movement and focus prediction that makes the speed. A new 300 would probably also help.

Camera still looks great. Now we also need lenses with fast AF. 16-50 is on the way, but fast AF typically pairs with tele glass, larger aperture tele glass. M3/4 offers such glass, Pentax is limited in this area.

Rehousing of lenses is typically not done for individual lenses - a single copy of this and a single copy of that lens. Getting the right lens is not easy and rehousing is a difficutt and expensive process.
The questions is whether you are going for the vintage look of older glass or depth of field specialists or a line of special glass like FA ltds. Typically a line of 3-5 lenses make a full set, the 3 FA ltds just cover a certain range, but no real wide angle. I am sure Zeiss glass is rehoused offering a wide range of modern options.

Kii J Images are out. I feel a need to tell someone that this design is totally off. Just to make sure that it stays in Japan and will not influence general camera design.

What we see is s a honest update of a nice line of glass. Keep the basics in place and update the coatings. This puts a couple new lenses in the time line. N the background Pentax is working a really new designs, some already released. Nothing wrong about that. If you ask for new designs, you should also mention what is lacking. Many bases are covered, exotic glass would be interesting, but will not sell as well.

Anyone waiting for this? Just a minor upgrade for future buyers. 77ltd wins over a DFA85 with smaller aperture for now. If the do the same for 31/43, what will be the new large aperture wide angle prime? Either they recycle 31HD or we can expect a f/1.4 design - I like the latter case.

Maybe the K5 is off here. You always have to look at all parts involved. Lens profiles take care of focus shift at different apertures - Pentax lenses that is. Pentax can zero the camera anywhere if your lens goes over the limit.

Sounds more like Pentax has real problems. Tweak software and get all the parts necessary in time for production. Everything else is set at this point - or the delay will be a year plus.
Development includes firmware/softeare development. These days cars are delivered without proper software - development is providing fixes after production and sales...
