Appreciate the kind comments on the nuthatch photo.
scc, all the data can be seen in the Flickr link.
These shots were set up with a pre focus just off to the side of an active feeder. I had my daughter hold a broom in the air about where I figured they'd be coming in and I focused on that plane. It was then just a matter of waiting for the correct afternoon light (I did use fill flash on some) and hitting the shutter as the speedy little devils entered the zone. I had more misses than hits.

Here's a mountain chickadee, also K1 and DA 560.

Technically, I guess I used the K1 and DFA 150-450 to get this close up of Johnny Rook (striated caracara).
The little devil was stalking me.

Great thread idea and a real joy to page through. Thanks all and great work.

This was the first northern saw-whet I ever found on my own

Just seeing this long-tailed weasel would have been cool, being lucky enough to have my camera in hand (shooting a grouse) when it happened by with prey was pure luck

I spent several hours on a cold April night on the Bighorn River around 3 am, alone with coyotes and owls, trying to get this shot right.

I love listening to common poorwill on summer evenings. I was out that evening hoping to photograph a flammulated owl (maybe next year) but felt very lucky to get this consolation shot.

The obligatory pacific northwest flying eagle shot.

Same location, a crow with lunch

I was originally disappointed with the clouds this evening as well as some crazy laser show shooting across the sky from parts unknown, but the end result grew on me over time.

Evening grosbeak's known they're beautiful. Showing off for the camera

Back at it with the camera trap this weekend, using the K1, Rokinon 24mm, Sabre trigger and two remotely triggered Nikon flashes
Striped skunk this time. I still can't time it right with the occasionally visiting bobcat.

Still trying with my camera trap and fabricated summertime remote watering hole, posting a deer photo before but really hoping for a bobcat.
I've picked up the bobcat occasionally visiting the watering hole on my trail cam (which is monitoring I'm not around) and with a three day weekend I thought I had a chance to capture it with the K1.
I took advantage of the new moon to program the trigger to set off the camera and immediate flashes while keeping the exposure open for an additional 13 seconds to catch the starry sky above and behind.
Unfortunately, I got a 3 am domestic cat (not sure what it's doing out at this semi remote location) rather than a bobcat. My other catches this weekend were a nocturnal rabbit and a moth.
I'm getting frustrated and am just going to call this guy "Bob, the cat"
Thought it was worth sharing given the exposure and stars even though the subject isn't exactly my target animal.
K1 Rokinon 24 mm, Sabre trigger, Two NIkon Sb28 remote flashes with camptraptions wireless triggers.

Male and female white-headed woodpeckers from the weekend. K1 DA 560
It's been a treat to have them around this year as they're not always present.
They're regularly visiting a birdbath on our deck as well.

A lot of preparation went into creating a watering hole and camera trap set up this spring hoping to capture the bobcat that I occasionally see around the property. Despite bobcat lure and catnip, I'm still a failure in that department. The number of mice, squirrels, lizards and birds visiting the hole however (I have a trail cam on it when I'm not present) has been impressive.

When at the property, I've been setting up wtih the K1 and Rokinon 24 mm with a trigger and two remote flash setup. Here's a shot of a mule deer (focus was at the water's edge) and a covey of quail. One of these nights, I still hope to get the bobcat.

Thank you both, I was lucky to get it. The only other time I've seen one I had to shoot at ISO 4000 and a speed of 1/40 in fading light.

I had to look up the Baillon's Crake, it's a nice bird. I searched the forum and you posted one in 2014, but unfortunately the photo is not linking properly anymore :(

My real target that day was a common yellowthroat, which over the years had never given me a clear shot. This was probably my best of the day. It eyed, but did not go after the insect on the adjacent leaf.
