Should I upgrade to K-70

Starbase218 asked a central question: How do you use your current camera?

I take a lot of pictures while bicycle touring --so size and weight are important to me. Also, I don't have room in my bag for a flash, so high-ISO is important to me, as is a built-in flash. The K-70 is slightly smaller than the K3 II, and weighs nearly 100 grams less with battery. The K-70 built in flash is better than my previous K-50. The K-70 has max ISO 102400, as opposed to 51200 for the K3 II.

I have not used a K3 or K3 II, but for the reasons mentioned, I chose the K-70. It feels great in my hands, and I like it a _lot_ more than the K-50.

Pentax K-50 White, body only; with AA battery accessory (D-BH109)

Asking Price
179.00 USD

Item Description
I am selling a K-50 in excellent to like-new condition, purchased from the Pentax web store Nov 27 2014 (fond memories...)

It comes with all original accessories, software and paperwork. I am including a AA battery holder that i didn't use because I found the stock lithium battery worked out just fine. The camera has been lightly used (summer vacations mostly), shutter count is 3619. No known issues, but the item is not returnable.

I am listing a flat shipping fee of $30 which should cover most places in the US from my NE location (yes to Pentaxians in the far north although).

If interested send me a private message.

PS: Photos taken from cell phone (Moto Z) with Hasselblad zoom camera "mod" (Hasselblad admittedly not up to the quality of a K-50 but its convenient carry!)

Are you the original owner of the item being sold?

Given the problems that are being discussed, I just want to say that my order appears to be proceeding without a hitch thus far.

I ordered a K-50 and a DA 55-300WR on 11/27/2014 for a sale price (558.57). I received a confirmation email, and was informed that an item (lens) was out of stock, and would be shipped later along with the camera body. On 12/2/2014 I received a confirmation email, notifying me that my order was on backorder, and expected to ship in about 2 weeks time.

I was glad to take advantage of this sale, and I don't mind waiting a couple of weeks to get a significant discount price. I shop with Adorama, but was not ready/willing to buy any of the specials that Adorama was offering. If it were not for the sale, I would not have bought either item during this holiday season.

Much thanks for the heads-up on this deal. I was able to buy a K-50 body (white) with an HD DA 55-300 WR (which I have a need for, as opposed to a flash or an 18-55 zoom) for less than $560 shipped! :D

Thank you for the replies! I knew I treasured the lens, but I didn't fully realize how sought-after it still is.

The downunder copy is attractive. Does anyone know --Is the manual focus ring better on the F as opposed to the FA? I am looking at the current deals on a K3 and thinking that manual focus with live view would work well (when needed).

I bought a used SMC A 135mm years ago and shot with a K-1000. I loved the lens, but by the time I bought a DSLR, the lens had developed significant fungus.

So I'm looking for an 135mm 2.8 F version. Please contact me and tell me about your F 135mm beauty! I promise to give it a good home. I have a vintage fast 50mm K lens in pristine condition of interested in a trade with cash.

--Followup: Through amazing luck, an F 135 lens popped up on PF soon after my post. Wild Mark alerted trg300gt, and now I have a well-cared for copy of the lens! Thanks to other posters here, and esp. to Wild Mark!

K-X owners, what bags do you have?

I went to a store (J&R) and tried several bags. I wanted the bag to be secure, so I could wear it while bike riding. I tried all the bags on display. The winner, hands down, was the Case Logic SLR Sling bag. The K-x fits easily with a fitted lens, plus one more lens in the larger compartment, plus one or two smaller lenses in the auxiliary compartment. The bag goes across the shoulder (a la messenger bag style), and has a 2nd strap that secures across the waist.

If you can possibly visit a store near you do so, so that you try out the various bags. Bring your camera and a lens to try the fit. The bag I brought home (the Case Logic SLR Sling) was not the one I had picked online!

With the preface that I'm a brand-new DSLR user: it appears to me that intractable sensor specks are not common, but not rare either. A search of the forums will show others have experienced what GeneV described. I read several forum suggestions about cleaning, but as a newbie I wanted to have a more comprehensive discussion. The following website has a good overview of the DSLR sensor cleaning issue --at least from my novice perspective.

One detail question: the Pentax K10D is said to have a tin oxide sensor (as does the Sony Alpha series and the Canon XTi/400D and 5), which calls for a more specialized liquid cleaner (e.g. Eclipse 2 rather than original Eclipse). Does anyone know if the sensor in the K-X is tin oxide?

I will be travelling this summer (including some time in Spain) with a k-x and some primes and I'm concerned about the dust issue.
So let me ask you: 1) Did you use the sensor self-cleaning feature? 2) if yes, then _how_ did you use it? routinely? and finally, 3) what is your judgment about how effective it was?

thanks for your reply.
