Just getting around to processing my first images from this lense, shot last weekend in September. This lense really captures an amazing amount of detail....and is a joy to use.(*-st Ds, ISO 200, Raw, developed in SilkyPix 2.0, Levels, Color Balance adjusted in Photoshop)
2nd shot with Sigma 105mm f2.8 EX

Saw this rose just sitting in a vase, and I thought I'd try a macro shot. Shot handheld, with soft sunlight coming from the kitchen window. Shot at f4 for a soft-focus effect, this turned out way better than I anticipated.

Raw image developed in Silkypix 2.0 , *-ist Ds w/SMC-FA 28-70 f4.0 AL

Tried the Russell Brown PS Conversion technique (2x Saturation_Hue Adjustment Layers) on this image, originated as a scanned slide shot with MZ-5n + SMCP -FA 20-35 f4.0 AL, w/CP filter, Fuji Provia 100.
I find I like this method, gives lots of control over tonality.

Problem only rears it's ugly head when I focus at infinity...I can shoot at near or middle distances, and images are sharp.

SMCP-F 7-210 f4-5.6 wont focus to infinity on Ds?

Pulled out my trusty F 70-210 ED the other day only to find that it will no longer focus to infinity....focus ring is still smooth, but when at infinity, shots are definitely out of focus, even when AF locks on subject at 200' +. (Tried several focal lengths) Any recommendations? Possible to repair w/o paying more than price of a good used model?

Set-up for available light indoor auditorium shots?

Based on just a few shots, I think this one is a keeper...I shot this image from about 30' away....to be fair, this was slightly sharpened in PS, but this could easily be printed at 12 x 18 or larger. I definitely like the feel of the manual focus action...smooth & silky...easy to focus w/DS focus indicator light. My only gripe for this shooting situation (acoustic choral concert) is that the DS shutter is loud enough to distract those sitting nearby.

If wide angle is important, go for the DA 16-45 f4. Great 'standard' zoom with constant aperture. If normal to moderate tele focal lengths are more your bag, then Tamron's 28-75 f2.8 Xr Di is a winner. (Was one of the first Digitally integrated designs from Tamron, and from it's wide aclaim, they did their homework)

Just wondering what other folks are using...I am currently using the DS, Tamron 28-75 Xr Di, and SMC-K 135 f2.5 which work pretty well, but I'm going to be trying to capture some once-in a lifetime shots. (Stage play & choir performances of my daughter) I typically shoot hand-held in Raw, rely on stage lighting at ISO 1600. Short of trading up to the 100D, what would you recommend?
