I also use a Nikon slide holder on my K1. I used to use a Vivitar 105 Macro but now use a Pentax 100mm Macro. Here's an example of a converted 35mm slide originally shot on Fuji Velvia with my LX. Not sure about the lens, probably a SMC Pentax 24mm F2.8.

Opinion time: what are your favorite manual lenses?

My favorite is my Zeiss 25mm Distagon with my 21mm Distagon and K 35mm f3.5 running a close second and third. I shoot more manual focus than anything else. However, I find myself shooting with my GR III a lot since I got it.

Who here never, ever used the video mode?

I have never used the video function of my K-1, KP, K 200, or my GR III. Any video I shoot is with a Panasonic 3CDD video camera for my day job and my iPhone for everything else. Obviously the video capabilities of a digital SLR are not important to me!

How many of you guys have tried the GV-2? Just got one and I like it a lot! I was having trouble composing photos in bright sunlight with the LCD screen, especially when under exposing. The viewfinder is bright and clear and is going to be a big help. It's expensive but I think it is worth it.

I have completed the registration for extended warranty but have not heard anything back from Ricoh. Is that normal? Has anyone received any conformation of the extended warranty?

I think you are missing the point. You should adjust based on how you want your image to look. Advice given by anyone based solely on the EXIF is worthless.

My GR III is within the stated serial number range and I would not even have noticed the "wobbling" if it weren't for comments and complaints from other people - many who have never even seen a GR III in real life! I have assumed that the movement of the dial is normal and it functions perfectly. I am very happy with the operation and image quality of my GR III.

It's funny how when these sort of "problems" arise, the people who don't own the camera are the most vocal about the problems:hmm:

GR III vs KP Image Quality
Posted By sibyrnes

It looks to me like an image that has had sharpening applied in Lightroom. When "Pixel Peeping" the RAW images they just seem to have a different look to them than I am used to seeing with K-1 and KP images I work with. Maybe I am just not used to seeing such sharpness on a 24 MP image. The bottom line is I am very happy with the image quality of the GR III!

You're right, I only compared at 18mm. I didn't intend to make a conclusive test, just get some first impressions.

As I mentioned in my original post, when viewing the RAW image it almost looks like some sharpening has been applied. Is the lens just that sharp or is some "cheating" going on in the processing? What do you think?
