I've lost my original owner's manual for my Pentax K10D. Does anyone here have one that I might purchase, or can anyone give me a good address/tel # to contact for buying another one?

Thanks,

:D Please explain the macro setting to me; is it only effective at 80mm? How close will it focus and will it give 1:1 ratio?

Thanks,

Starting Over at 75...Which Printer is best, the Canon or Epsom?

I've found an outfit that will matt and frame my 13" X 19 " prints at a reasonable price and am now trying to settle on a printer that will best suit my needs for the 13" X 19" prints. I've looked at several and am trying to decide on either the Epsom or Canon printers. I mostly shoot people, but mother nature sometimes entrances me, too. I've got plans for a project at a cheese farm not far from here, that sort of thing. I will be doing both color and b&w prints, mostly color, but a lot of b&w prints as well....Any recommendations?

Problem with post processing

I have a new KD10; was shooting basketball scenes inside gym. When I returned home and was moving images from the camera to my computer (was using Adobe Elements 5) when I got an error message which informed me that my raw files could no longer be used and I would have to switch to another type. I chose JEPG and proceeded to move images, albeit very slowly. Several of my images contained in the upper right corner an icon that appeared to me to imitate a pen recording to a tablet.

Don't have any idea what was the origin of the error, but some image spaces on the Element 5 folder were blank. Does anyone have any idea what my problem might be and do you think that the problem is a temporary one or have I been snake bit?

Thanks,

***Why don't they (anyone, anyone at all) just provide us with a sensor that ir replaceable by the camera body owner? Makes bout as much sense as any of the remarks made in this bit of the forum. I think that there was a Three Stoges comedy segment in which those three characters were using cameras. We ought to find that and run it on this forum.....FLASH

Dimitry:

I just sent you a PM regarding this in response to your PM to me about it; I want a macro lens. I'd prefer the 90 mm Tamron lens, I think, but need to know a bit more about it, such as will it resolve to 1:1? And of course, how much do you want for it? I have no experience with it so don't know what to offer. Why don't you just tell me how much you want for it and I'll either pay it or not. If I don't go for the Tamron, I'd like to have the Pentax.........FLASH

:pI used the same lens for shooting indoors at high school girls' volleyball games; I set it for RAW, get the white balance right and shoot at 400-800; I get some great images with this lens and the K10D. It has surprised me a lot and pleased me even more. I think that you'll learn to appreciate this lens over time. Keep at it!

How to measure battery life on the K10D
Posted By FLASH

I have two batteries, one in the camera and one in the battery grip; I've set the priority to the grip battery, but how does one measure when the battery is about to go? I tried to use only the grip battery by removing the battery in the camera, but that wouldn't work.(What I meant there was that I wondered if the grip battery alone would power the camera; found out that it wouldn't, which surprised me.) I realize that the battery icon will appear 'washed' out when it is about to go, but I need something more definitive than that. Any ideas?

Thanks,

You are absolutely correct! For whatever reason, none of the photos I send to this forum have actually been seen, except for the first one or two I tried. I guess that I am the reason for this, but whatever it really is, I cannot fathom it.

Pentax K12D

:cool:I've said this before, but here goes again....What Pentax needs to do to leap-frog ahead of the competition is to come out with a body that is fully upgradable; one that a user could take to a good shop and have them replace/upgrade the sensor, the automation innards, etc. While the '10' is computerized a bit, the totally upgradable unit would be highly computerized so that replacement of chips would negate the requirement for a new body every so often. All of those camera experts at Pentax need to be replaced by computer experts!

Potential new Pentax user

:(Well......

I have the 10KD and am trying to learn how to use it; it is a tad heavy, as Pentax bodies go. I have a bunch of lens of the full frame type that I am using with the new body. So far, so good. However, today I went to a high school volleyball tourney, taking the new Pentax with me along with the Pentax SMC 28~105mm. The indoor volleyball court is well lighted, but still I had to use the on-board flash a lot. Don't recall the guide #, but it has to be low. The most bothersome thing was the slow meter-shutter response which just ruined my day there. Worst of all, there was a fellow using a new Nikon with a good flash unit installed who gave me this jackass-eating-briars look every time my camera's flash went off after the action on the court. I think that he was using one of the newer F-40's or whatever it is, a digital camera by Nikon. ....I should have known to get a good flash to use, but it has been SO long since I've done any real shooting that I just plain forgot about that. And without that, all of my shots just didn't work. I got blurred shots, pure darkness, and such. I was crushed! So, here I am, and what should I do next, buy a good flash unit to attach to the body? The Nikon guy was shooting and shooting, his flash going off all of the time. I asked him what the guide # of his flash was and he replied that he didn't know, that it was all automatic. ..........

So, lesson learned. Now I am looking for a good flash unit. Any suggestions?

Camera/lens technology continues to push forward faster and faster; the appearance of the newest Nikon slr brings forth moans of dispair from us Pentaxians. Will faster and faster new technology drive us all to bankruptcy or will Pentax get the idea that building a slr camera body that is upgradable inside and out be the marketing marvel that might enable them to leap-frog over Canon, Nikon, Sony et al? Camera technology seems to be following closely the technology of computers, so why doesn't someone come up with a body that may be upgraded with the adding-on of new components? Doesn't that seem like an approach that would benefit all, camera/lens manufacturers and consumers alike? If this, or something very similar doesn't happen in the foreseeable future, where will markets be with technology that dooms previous technology every year or so?
