No clue, to be honest, but the quality is definitely better than that of the ones sold on ebay.

Time for a big sale! Gathered too much stuff that doesn't see much use now, so I'm selling them. Everything is located in Ann Arbor, MI 48104.
All pictures are of the actual items! Click on thumbnails to see larger versions.

1. First up, a Pentax K-7. $585, shipped in the US.

Excellent condition overall! Camera has a scratch on the mode dial and normal wear on the hotshoe. Everything that originally comes with the camera is included, except for the battery charger (an aftermarket charger costs maybe 15 dollars, so no biggie).

2. Pentax DA 70 Limited + B+W Neutral MRC - $465 shipped in the US - SOLD

Mint condition, includes lens and everything that was originally in the box. A B+W Neutral MRC Filter is also included.

3. Tamron 17-50/2.8 - $375 shipped in the US - SOLD

Mint condition, everything as new. The original box is not pictured, but included.

4. Pentax DA* 50-135/2.8 - $735 shipped in the US - SOLD

The lens itself is in like new condition, but I don't have the box. The pouch is included, though.

5. Metz 48 AF-1 + Lumiquest Softbox III + GP Recyko batteries - $200 shipped.

The flash is in excellent condition, I'm also including a Lumiquest Softbox III. It attaches with velcro to the flash head and works as a small diffuser. You will also get 4 rechargeable GP Recyko batteries.

6. Focusing screen for K-5 and K-7 (Nikon K3) - $65 shipped - SOLD

Excellent screen from focusingscreen.com, Nikon K-3 version with grids.

7. Pentax Magnifier O-ME53 - $30 shipped - SOLD

Pentax O-ME53 viewfinder magnifier, mint with box.

That is all, PM me if you have any questions!

Do note that the photographer can vary the distance between the subject and the background.

Oh yeah, filters also would do that. Maybe if you're using too many or if filters are too thick, that would happen.

Do you use a round hood by any chance? If it's too deep, it might be that you are getting vignetting with hood on and no vignetting with hood off.

El Nikkor uses m39 leica thread mount, so you can make a "hood" from a m39 rear cap; there are different rear caps for m39 and some of them are pretty deep.

Hold on before buying the magnifier. I have one, it is great for manual focus and magnified image BUT it does not help with seeing the whole frame! I have the original Pentax magnifier, and it works well with contact lenses, but with glasses I have to look up/down to cover the whole frame.
When I wear glasses, I just use the eyecup that came with the camera, set the diopter adjustment so that the image looks sharp, and use it that way; I'm pretty sure I can see the entire image in the viewfinder (and I'm definitely sure I cannot with the magnifier and glasses on).

Nice! Are those 24exp rolls? 36exp rolls should fill the reel to the edge.

For outdoors, if you want "fast" (fast for a handheld meter) operation, just use the incident metering, point the dome to the sky and meter. You need to be in the same light as your subject, though, so it's not going to work if you're standing under the sun and shooting something in the shadow.

LV and rule of thirds

It's a good composition aid, perhaps you should try it. I'm not saying you should give up your composition sense and rely on electronics, but it is a useful thing to have. Also, you can use it as a leveling tool in case your level is off.

It's a setting in live view mode settings. Technically, it's not a rule of thirds screen since it divides the screen into 16 parts (4x4) as opposed to 9 parts (3x3), but I find it helps with composition.

With K10D, I sometimes noticed I can manual focus better in fast action than auto-focus (with an appropriate focusing screen, of course); also since I know where I want to focus, I don't really need to focus/recompose or do the guesswork related with where camera focus point is actually pointing. The problem with AF is not just accuracy - 50-135 focuses pretty slow.

Constant Aperture

Ditto. Usually 5.6 on those lenses have a little line that leads to the position of 4.0, meaning that 5.6 is max aperture at the long end.

Recommended wrist straps for k7/5?

Gordy's strap is really good - but as noted, will be tiring with K-5. It does have a locking mechanism of sorts - a rubber ring that slides along the length of the wrist strap to make sure the strap doesn't slip out of your hands; it's held in place by friction between rubber and leather, not a lock like on that wii thing.

Got my new K5 but possible issue, uploaded a video of it...

Looked at the video, that looks extremely strange.. The only idea I have is that maybe you're using a manual (A-series?) lens and input wrong focal length (for example, 800mm for a 50mm lens or something). Even if that was the case, the screen would just jerk around, not jump like it does in yours, and it won't go to normal after you tilt.

You might get more advice if you post the video to youtube, downloading ~100mb of video is not very convenient.

what about in camera tripod mount IS
Posted By pbo

In-camera IS? That's what SR on Pentax is. On Canon and Nikon IS is in-lens. Not sure what you're trying to say... And you're supposed to turn off any stabilization system when using camera on a tripod (it supposedly overcompensates when there's no need for stabilization).
As for mirror slap.. Mirror lockup?

AF-S doesn't do tracking, you need AF-C. Also, she will need to pan to keep you in the focus area (or use auto focus point selection, but cannot say how well that is going to work)

Optimal aperture for lens

Yes, it's "MTF" option in program line selection. I thought it just stops the lens down 1 stop.
