Can I save my LX screen? I messed up....

Yes they are plastic...

I was trying to swap screens in my LX with the little supplied tweezers and they slipped, put a nice scratch on the plastic screen. Thankfully I had some NOS extra screens I got from a local camera store.

Swapping focusing screens in the LX is on the "mickey mouse" side, so I'll let Eric/or a local tech do it in the future. :o
(The P67II screen swap requires no tools and is done by removing the finder, so way better than the LX via the lens mount opening.)

I've got a Honeywell price guide from August 1975 and it lists a "horizontal" split-image screen (they called it a split image rangefinder screen) as an option for any SP & ES body.

The prefix was "XRF" that was added to the cameras catalogue number. Price was $25.00 extra to the cost of the camera body.

I guess for me it's what you are used to, as my original SLR was a chrome KX with black K Series lenses.

30 + years later I got my first black K Series body (K2) and my K Series lenses looked good on that black body as well. Then I got my first silver FA LTD and it looked OK on my chrome KX, but a bit strange my black K2.

Even my wife made a comment on what kind on lens is "that" (FA43/1.9)?

One combo I have that does look a bit strange, is a silver FA LTD on a black K Series body. People always stare at me...

Yeah it's the senior care buildings that are getting hit the hardest here in Vancouver. I work in a hospital in a Vancouver suburb and while we do have a COVID-19 ward and drive up testing, no one has died of the virus in the hospital that I know of. One of the nearby senior care homes has had all the deaths, 10 that I know of, which accounts for most of the deaths here in BC. Numerous other residents and staff have also tested positive for COVID-19 in that care home.

PENTAX Reverse Adapter K fit

I've found it's easier to mount a short extension tube to the camera body first and then mount the reverse adapter. Never had any issues that way.

I was always leery of mounting the adapter directly to the camera body.

The city of Vancouver removed all the hoops from the basketball courts in the city parks, to stop people from gathering in groups. Also all schools have shutdown and the outdoor courts/fields are also closed.

So that fellow would be out of luck here....

Does not surprise me, as the lens was designed to work with a camera shaped like this from the SF Series of film bodies:

Pentax KX split screen version

When I went into a local camera store here in Vancouver to buy my first SLR in late 1975, the salesperson steered me in the Pentax direction as well.

The K Series had just been launched that summer, so that must have played a roll in the recommendation by the salesperson.

I also ended up with a new chrome KX & K28/3.5, K55/1.8 and the K135/3.5. :D

Welcome to the forum!

The Spotmatic, MX & LX had bulk film magazines that enabled you to hold 250 pictures, but not for the K1000.

So I'm guessing the seller did not mean this and as previously mentioned he was referring to multiple exposures?

They are definitely harder to find.

I as well as many other forum members have a KX with a split screen. Compared to the regular screen, it's probably a 1 in 10 ratio.

Pentax MZ-3 question (MZ-S related, too)

There has been a few threads on this subject with the MZ-S and other cameras in MZ series in the film forum. Basically if your MZ-S s/n starts with a 5xxxxxxx you "should" have the brass gear, if it starts with a 4xxxxxx then it "may" have the plastic mirror gear. Even if your camera has the plastic gear it does not mean it will die the first time you use it.

I also just got a 35TE and a battery module that holds 4 x Varta V386 button batteries as a work around to the original 5.6V,. The camera meter still does not work, but that's a different story. (Needs a CLA as well)
