I have the 17-50,28-75,90 and 70-200 and have enjoyed the comfort of their USA 6 year warranty. The quality is not on par with Pentax, however, I have never suffered a quality related problems with any of them after three years and I do use my equipment. Living in southwest Florida my equipment has been thought many afternoon downpours without any water related problem. I purchased all mine new and warranty and price were the deciding factors.I have since added the three Amigos and the Limited's build quality is unmatched IMHO.I sure you will be happy with either one of those fine lens.

I have the 28-75 as well and the hood does have a tight fit and still does after 3 years of use.. I always insure the barrel lock is on before installing or removing the hood. It do use this lens a lot and did have to send it to repair for zoom creep, but that could happen with any well used lens.I have over 4200 images in LR from this lens. I do have the 17-50 as well and it used often as well, but no zoom creep for it.
I think the K30 and a good NR program would be a great next move.
Nice shots,
Mike

ironliozion,
you are correct , however, not looking to add additional processes and equipment to make an FF camera work with my aps-c lens.

Thanks for your opinion

Of course you can not answer and if you did I'm not sure it would be correct anyway. Looking more for experienced Pentax user opinions on this matter.
When the fog clears and no FF is visible, then I have no worries, right... I could then be sure Pentax would continue to refine their aps-c camera line-up, which I'm fine with....

Again thanks for the replies,
Mike

Thanks for the replies,

SpecialK ,Not really that funny of a thread, not spec'ing a new camera, looking to protect a 3000+ lens investment as much, as possible.Just asking a question , however, I'm glad you found some humor in it.

Builttospill, I was not clear on the coating. I wouldn't wait for the newer HD coating, I was comparing the newer DA's coating to the FA's coating.

asp1880, I could not agree more with your statements, Thanks!

I'm getting ready to purchase several new primes. My funds are now in line and I need to decide on the FA or DA series. I can live with the slower aperture of the DA and like the quick shift focus as well. The DA's newer lens coating is a plus as well. The only draw back is the FF thing in the not so distance future. I would like the lens to work on a FF if and when I get one. I currently happy with my K5 and hope it serves me well for many years to come, however, I need to plan for 5 to 10 years as well.
I know Nikon FF's offer a crop mode feature and I'm almost sure Pentax would as well?. Want do you think about the crop mode feature on Pentax's future FF cameras. Will it be there??

Can K5 AF improve via firmware like K-01?

I would agree that no firmware update is coming, however, the K20 did received a firmware update (ver.1.04 4-22-2010) a year after the release of the K7.So it may be remotely possible.
