I have a bunch of Energizer 2300 mAh AA's and 800 mAh AAA's, which have served me well for years in my flashes and Cactus triggers. Bought from OfficeWorks with same brand smart chargers.

I might look at the IKEA option next time!

Pentax lens has different mount

But which one? The full model name will be written on the lens somewhere.

A quick glance through the lens database for 400mm primes shows (at the very least) two all-manual K mount versions (K and M series), a screw mount Takumar, a 645 mount and a couple in 6x7 mount. Personally, I have never seen any of them in the flesh but there will be plenty here who will have.

The one you have looks to have some sort of adaptor or mount replacement, but the image is too small and incomplete to be of much use.

I have a full frame camera, and I absolutely love my little crop lenses. Two ecosystems sharing a common mount is wonderful.

I'm with Adam. It might come close at some (most likely longer) focal lengths, but I don't understand why anyone would consider that to be important.

Buying an expensive, top quality crop lens so it can be a marginal performer on full frame doesn't make sense to me.

Anyway, no one outside of Ricoh knows the answer, so this is all pure speculation.

The top image is back focussed - the clouds and bottom right roof line look reasonably sharp.
Nothing in the bottom image is in focus.

An image of a flat planar subject, with detail from edge to edge, focussed carefully in live view, would give us something to work on.

Welcome! I have a daughter living in Melbourne, so I visit there often. Twice this month in fact ;)

The DA70 is a smart buy; it's a great lens and super compact. Substitute the 12-24 for the DA15 and DA21 and you'd really have the ideal small kit....

Full frame mirrorless is a rapidly evolving medium. Then you can add medium format.

It's a total crap shoot. Anyone's suggestions here are pure speculation.

Personally, I'll stick with the ecosystem I know and trust.
OVF.
DSLR.
Pentax.

Ceiling/wall bounce rules. The AF540FGZII on the hot shoe works very well in my hands.

The AF201FG is tiny and quite versatile (much better than its predecessor), but lacks the power needed for many situations.

If you want a more powerful mobile platform, something like this might suffice....

Nothing in the sky is in focus, so you're well forward of infinity.
The flare in the bottom left suggests light pollution might be at least part of the problem.

How to Carry It?

Seriously though, I would suggest the K-1, 28-105 and flash be carried over the shoulder, and the 9mm carried on the hip.
This time of year New York is getting chilly, so I'd carry the whiskey in a metal flask in an internal left breast pocket of your jacket. Just in case.

I can't argue with the KP/18-135/55-300PLM combination. I have all three and can vouch for their quality and versatility for the size/price.

For the record, I also have the K-1 Mark II with all the DFA zooms, but sometimes minimalism wins.

When I got my K-1, the first lens I gave a proper work-out to was the DA*55.
It's still a favourite.

Wide open, un-copped

Standard landscape duty

It stitches pretty well too

And resolution? Tick. 100% crop @ f/5.6

Low light action

Macro Ring Flashes for Portraits?

Of the lighting setups demonstrated in that video, the last one (with the ring flash) is (IMHO) by far the least flattering.

But if you really want that deer-in-the-headlights look, I suspect a ring of pearlescent plastic around any ring flash could reproduce it.

Two hundred bucks? Just buy it! Brilliant lens.

If the SDM fails, converting it to screw drive yourself is not terribly difficult, or if you'd rather leave it to @UncleVanya it won't cost you much.

The KP definitely packs and feels smaller than the K-3; it has much less volume even though the absolute dimensions are almost identical. It is now my only crop body, having sold my K-3. Yes, the K-70 is smaller again, and the swivel screen would be cool, but the aperture block issue would concern me having experienced it with my K-S1.

With all that said, I'd suggest you stick with what you have and just accept the weight of the K-3. Mind you, if you're looking for an excuse to spend on some new kit that's totally fine too ;)

Yep. There are much more important characteristics than whether or not it is an "A" series lens or not. The FA and DFA series focus manually just fine.

This whole thread is smelling fishy....

Second hand DA*16-50's can be had at a pretty good price. The Sigma and Tamron 17-50/2.8's are also excellent (I've owned one of the Sigmas).
Hard to go past one of these for indoor use.

A DA50/1.8 wouldn't go astray either as a budget bokeh master.

Here's a deep drop of the same image. Anyone who thinks old lenses can't resolve a 50 MP sensor is dreaming.
