Just looking at that ladder makes me hurt - can't imagine working off that over your head like that. It does look so nice now but I'm sure was tough getting done.

I stumbled upon Green Mountain a couple years ago. On my mail run when I-84 was pretty bad with snow - needed an extra coffee to calm my nerves. Stopped at a little Mom & Pop mini mart off one of the exits and they had Green Mountain as their regular coffee. Very good - if I had known how much I ended up liking it I would have grabbed a couple pounds while I was there.

Oh man - you brought back an old memory! The best coffee I ever had was this - but it's been 25+ years since I had any. Is it available for a decent price in the US?

I went through a process a few years ago to find the coffee I like best to brew at home (I've never been to any of those fancy coffee houses spoken of as there is no such thing around here). I ended up with Tim Horton's - I just love it! I have to make a 130 mile round trip to get it so stock up every 3 months.

First shots from my new Fuji x30 today. Still working on what settings I like. Also this is all new to me as I have decided to shoot only jpeg with this camera - been shooting raw exclusively with my Pentax gear since switching over from film. Not too bad for OOC jpeg's with just a tweak of shadows and highlights - also was foggy and dreary which didn't help....

Well thank you!

I am considering it a challenge to see what I can do with the little Fuji. I know not to set my expectations too high - the combination of my K-5IIs and DA* lenses are just phenomenal. But the truth of the matter is this is a step I must take to continue with my hobby. I am making somewhat of a compromise that should work out well by keeping one Pentax body and 2 fantastic lenses while being able to try a camera that I can handle easily.

Hopefully I will have some shots to share in a few days thanks to the B&H free overnight shipping..

Pulled the trigger on the x30. Wasn't sure how long the $100 discount would last as it wasn't there a couple days ago.

Venturing into new territory now to see what all I can do with a compact camera.

I guess it's an old school thing for me. I tried to get used to the LCD screen on my Panny LX5 but always have the temptation to hold it up to my face. My wife refuses to use a camera without a real viewfinder - part of the reason of keeping one DSLR.

Although out of my price range as you say I didn't realize this camera had a viewfinder.

Yeah - I just sat down with the 2 cameras plus took some evaluation shots with the DA* 60-250 - definitely keeping the K-5IIs.

I'm finally biting the bullet so to speak and going to sell most of my DSLR gear - just too heavy for me to handle anymore due to my RA. I am keeping one body and 2 lenses however....

Keeping either the K-5IIs or K-30
DA* 20-250
DFA 100 WR Macro

I've pretty much decided on the Fuji x30 for my everyday camera. Just wanted a couple opinions on any alternatives before I pull the trigger later today.

Must haves:

Good viewfinder
Articulating or tilt LCD screen
WiFi capable (ability to control camera and download to my iPad).
Budget $500 (currently the x30 is $400 with free overnight shipping which is why I am deciding to pull the trigger now).

I hate the phrase "it is what it is".

The phrase is in my sig line for a reason. When I was younger I used to get very frustrated with things that would go wrong which would be out of my control - like vonBaloney says mostly were work related. So I adopted the phrase to help my own self preservation and sanity I guess - would look at all angles at which I could possibly change something, then if not, tell myself "it is what it is" and be able to move on to something more productive.

After getting sick and having to stop working (with all the associated complications) after being mad at the world at first, I finally calmed down, realized that there was nothing I could do about what befell my life (it is what it is) and was able to move on at least to the point where I can now concentrate more on what I CAN do imstead or what I CAN'T do.

I will never part with my DA* lenses but I have no interest in a full frame camera. I do hate the fact that their value has dropped so much - all the more reason to just enjoy using them.

Good post Carol. And I agree - if not deceased I would be so crippled up I wouldn't be able to move.

I look very hard at each medication that either of my docs prescribe. While I also trust both of them 100% I always opt to not take it until I do my own research and then talk with them a second time about it.

UPS Problem

Our UPS driver is great. In the winter he can't get down my driveway (well he could get down but not back up to leave). In the past he would walk the packages from the road to the house (850' driveway part of which is steep). Since I've been home now and having signed up for the myUPS site (whatever it's called) I get notifications for the day of delivery. So the last couple years I will park my tractor (with front bucket) at the top of the driveway for him to drop the packages. I'm sure he would call me but there is no cell service here. I feel he is going above and beyond his call of duty to walk those packages down the slippery driveway all these years.....
