I like the part where the daughter is taking the picture. Good training, though it may be spoiling her a tad.

I’m in for June. Traveling for the last 12 days of the month so I may have repeat a lens since I don't want to travel with something that I would not use a lot on the trip. I am not sure if I'll have a replacement for the K-3ii. If so, l'll try to convert the my DA 50-135 to screw drive and use it. We will see. I plan to respond more to everyone else's stuff more consistently.

I'm in for May but not quite sure what I will shoot. Either the SMC Pentax 645 LS 75mm F2.8 or the SMC Pentax-FA 645 45-85mm F4.5 or ??? Probably go with the 75mm.

K-3ii sees all lenses as manual lenses

Just checking to see if anyone has seen this problem and has any idea if there is a quick fix for it.

The I dropped my K-3ii today while it was in a lightly padded bag from about 3ft. I did not think too much of it since it was in the bag. I had the DA 70mm F2.4 lens mounted. And when I turned on the camera it asked for the focal length. This was odd and then when I pressed the AF button on the back nothing happened. I tried the D-FA 28-105 and the K-3ii did not recognize it either. It does not recognize any AF lens. The camera does not recognize the aperture of any lens either. The lenses work just fine n my K-50 so I am pretty sure it is the camera body that has the problem. The camera shutter count is at Camera Shutter Count is 40,382.

If there are no quick fixes and no convincing "it is dead, let it rest in peace" verdicts, I will probably send it in for repair.

My immediate problem is that I am travelling on a student tour to Europe in a week and a half my wife leads and I help to chaperone. Any repairs will take longer than that. The K-3ii is a great camera for this. I am not overly excited about using my old K-50 and I do have film cameras that I could also take but these are not as immediate. The K-50 is fine for many of the people shots but not as great for the scenery or architectural shots.

Any thoughts on the repairs options or the travel options would be appreciated.

First Day with my 645Z.........Speechless !

Thanks for sharing!

I just picked up a 645Z a few weeks ago and have not been able to do any serious shooting with it even though I have lenses. But my initial late night tests have shown me enough to make me concur with your reaction. I was telling a guest who is not a photographer about it the other day and realized that my level of excitement looking forward to using the 645Z would only be appreciated by those who already have one. I have a K-3ii and was planning on moving to the K-1/K-1 mark ii but went with the 645Z first.

Enjoy - I know I will!

I'll give the Daily a go again. Time is always an issue but if I don't do the daily and single I find my shooting is inconsistent. Working on streamlining my workflow so it will be a good to practice getting the shots posted efficiently, perhaps before 11:00 p.m.

I am in this month. I bought a 645 to PK adapter a while back with the intention of singling my 645 A and LS lenses on the K-3ii. I'd hoped to have a K-1 to use for the SIC with the 645 lenses but that has not come to pass yet. So now the decision about which to use. Currently thinking of the 645 L.S. 1:2.8 75mm but that could change by the end of the afternoon. I also have the 55mm that may fit with the other 55 theme emerging for the month.

Welcome Scott from California!

I did go to high school and Jr. College in Overland Park (many years ago) and love to see the shots of the KC area that others in the forum post.

Good luck with the business!

Hi Paul,

Welcome to the forum a little belatedly given you joined in April. And welcome to California even more belatedly. Hopefully you are not in the fire zone right now. I’m impacted by the fires but not in an area that is threatened (the fuel for the fires was all used up last December).

Your mention of the Rikenon lens caused me to look at the reviews for the Rikenon lenses I have. I don’t have the the P 28-110 but I do have the P 28-100mm f4.0 Macro l. L’ll look forward to your review and perhaps it will inspire me to write a couple of reviews to fill the gaps in the Rikenon lens reviews.

You may want to look at the Single In Monthly challenge if you have not discovered it already. You take and post one picture per day using the same lens. Using a lens for a month gives me time to try different types of shots and try to find the sweet spot of the lens. I don’t shoot exclusively with the lens I am using for the Single In group but I usually start the day with it mounted to get some shot with it. I’ve found that even with a lens that is just a poorly made lens, I can usually get a couple of interesting shots during the month. I am not overly consistent with my daily posts but in the months I do make the effort it is very enjoyable and helpful. People may occasionally offer their thoughts for improving the shot but it’s is never in a negative way.

Sounds like congratulations on stopping full time work is in order. Work frequently does impact my ability to stick with the daily and single challenges so less work does sound fun.

I am going to try again in October. Not sure what lens I am going to pick. My September use of the Pentax M 50mm F4 Macro was cut short so I may redo that one. I am doing a shoot next weekend with my new granddaughter (born last Friday) so the 50 should be useful. Though I think most of my shots will be with the 35mm Macro Limited.

I am in for August. I picked up the Pentax DA 50-135 F2.8 before I went on vacation. In a 4 week period I probably shot around 1000 shots with it. The general quality was very good but I'd like to try some more deliberate, controlled shooting to see what I can do with it.

The TRIPTYCH theme is a great idea. I often do a series of pictures but to do it as an assignment on a specific day is a nice challenge.

I have been out of the daily and single in for the past couple of months. I was preparing for travel, travelling, and recovering from travel. A great time but lousy internet speeds even on wifi most of the places I went. So posting anything was a pain. Looking forward to diving back in, especially after occasionally visiting the threads and seeing the good stuff everyone is producing.

If those are the official themes then I will set some reminder in hopes that I actually remember the themes before I get my shots for the day.

Adobe Photography Plans compared to LR CC plan
Posted By Jim P

I had the Adobe Photography Plan for $9.99/Month so I could use the desktop versions of Lightroom Classic CC and Photoshop but needed at least a Terabyte of cloud storage to simplify file management. So I checked the Adobe options. The comparison between the three versions is found here. The version I needed if I stayed with Adobe's solution showed $19.99/mo for Lightroom Classic CC + Photoshop desktop + LR mobile + 1TB cloud storage. Essentially, if I wanted both LR and Photoshop on the desktop plus LR Mobile and 1TB storage, it would add $10/mo.

But when I logged in to make the change, the upgrade price was actually $14.99/mo instead of $19.99/mo. The bottom line is that it cost me an additional $5.00/month for the Terabyte of cloud storage. Plus, it gave me the ability to edit using the desktop versions of LR CC and Photoshop CC on my mac or edit using LR mobile on my Windows 10 tablet. I made the switch and it seems to be working as needed. It was a pleasant surprise.

What a nice find! Nice series. The sharpness of the bunny shows it can produce as it should. I spent a year commuting from Ventura to Palo Alto every week trying to find different interesting routes but at the time I did not do any serious photography. Now I fly up to San Jose and rarely come up with a good excuse to drive the back roads.

Enjoy the K-3ii. Mine has been a joy.

I've seen some of these or similar lenses at a local pawn shop and have been curious as to what can be done with them.

I thought I posted this a couple of days ago but evidently not. I'm in for May. I splurged and bought two $10 lenses on Saturday. One is the Pentax F 80-200 4.7-5.6, which I will be singling.

I'm in also. I shot a thousand or so pictures on a student trip winding from Scotland to London and then to Paris at the beginning of the month, then a couple hundred for a prom at the HS where my wife teaches. So most of my non work time for the last few weeks has been spent in post processing instead of shooting. But the prom pictures were delivered and I actually went out shooting today.
