Maybe the best for last ... both for 20 plus 5 delivery off the French Le Bon Coin site ... both have fungus and I have already torn down the 55/1.4 for a clean and lube. I may go in again because I am not quite happy with the diaphragm movement. Also I have rendered the 55/1.4 fully manual via the hollow Q-tip tube trick and using a flanged M42-to-K-mount adapter for the moment. A few test shots and the wide open center sharpness of the 55/1.4 is really great ... quite a happy camper. I will fix the 55/1.8 and give it a try ... I may later sell it or trade it away at a photo swap meet.

Another thrift store find ... a Manfrotto 718B for 5. Luckily I had a spare quick release plate at the house, but one for the leg clamps is split and won't thus lock tight ... and another one is badly cracked to split later. Still can be used at about 5+ feet height.

More stickers for same seller off Le Bon Coin site ... I splurged for 16 delivered. The 135 roll is for scale ... and there are two identical, both like new.

Way behind, so time to catch up ... and to boost the post count, too, for the raffle.

5€ for my thrift store ... a Tektronic C4 CRT camera, but no hood. Shoots Polaroid 600 film and has a Tominon (Tomioka) 105/4.5 lens which works great. Shutter is triggered by the pistol grip. I may get some film and have a bit of fun ... otherwise I may pull the lens out and mount it to a macro bellows. I placed my eye within the back of the camera to look at the image and it's super sharp at an macro range. Should be fun.

Nice playlist tonight on FIP, my favorite French radio station ...

They are featuring the Swedish jazz group E.S.T. ... playing some live stuff that I do not know.

I saw them live in Poitiers with my wife about 12 years ago, just after we arrived here ... an excellent concert in a small theater setting.

Bought a CD at the end and had it signed ... too bad they ended too soon.

It would only be just for a quick spin ... so to speak.

I bet that I could cook the tires off it pretty rapidly ... :D

This summarizes everything that I think about Leica ... except for their slide projector lens that I find cheap here and there.

Odds & ends ... and promise, last post here to "up" the post counter for the K-1 give-away event ...

I had to Amazon order this from Poland since it was much less expensive (and easier) than getting it from a French pharmacy (or elsewhere in France). 100 grams of Potassium Bromide to develop B&W film with the Caffenol CH and CL recipes ... plus a FOCA 1:1 Macro Doubler in Canon FD from my thrift store for 3 ... yes, that smudge towards the bottom seemed to be a price and good ol' Gilbert let me buy for 3.

Hi, I have not shot with this Elmaron 150mm, but I would think that it should do quite well ... I have an Elmaron 100/2.8 that I like and I will have to dig up an image or two. Please let me know how you do with the 150. Thanks, J

Another post to "up" the count for the K-1 raffle event ...

This arrived Saturday ... again from the Le Bon Coin French site for 30€ purchase price plus 15€ delivery.

A near mint ME Super with an excellent cosmetics M 100/4 Macro ... I gambled in that I know that this lens has a reputation for front element balsam separation ... or some I have read. There is a faint semi-circle halo on the external limits of the front group. Very thin and from about 11 o'clock to about 6 o'clock. I test shot it with the K-1 and cannot see any adverse effects.

The black ME Super is unused IMHO ... not a single use mark and the bumper cushion looks like it has never been squashed by the mirror. Only problem is that the battery cap is corroded and will not come off at the moment. I put new batteries in by unscrewing the three base plate screws. I will fix this later on ... again a happy camper in that I sold my previous M 100/4 and then had seller's regret ... ;)

Beer cans ! Beer cans from yesterday's boot sale at Fontaine-le-Comte !!!

Asking price was 20€, but I got it for 15€ after stating that I could not test anything since there were no batteries. I know, I'm tough. Plus it was sold in a Nikon DSRL kit box ... :D

All like new and working with new batteries ... a Minolta 5000 AF with the protective film still on the base plate bottom, a mini-beer can AF 35-70/4 with hood & caps, a big beer can AF 70-210/4 with hood & caps, a Minolta Program 2800 AF flash, all manuals and warranty cards ... plus the original receipt for the purchase at Poitiers for 4,880.00 French francs in June of '88 ... a price which does not include the big beer can and which is quite expensive for my tastes.

Happy camper because I always wanted to try out the big beer can and now I have both ! I really like these film era Minolta cameras ... really retro cool and they put out some great images.

They are in the area for the "500 Ferrari Against Cancer" meet southeast of Poitiers.

Here's the website and I may go shoot a bit this Sunday.

My dad was a criminal defense attorney, so we had a ton of guns in the house. When the clientele couldn't pay cash, guns were a good currency. There was an entire closet full of them in the house. Plus there were several guns hidden about the house because of the same clientele, go figure.

When we had our auto shop in North Tulsa (read tough area), I carried a Combat Commander with 180 hollow points. It had a kick.
