DFA 150-450 bag recommendations?

Even with the sling and the safety tether, I also support my 150-450 by hand. It's a really heavy lens, and I can only imagine that at some point, without support, it'll pull the lens mount off the camera. I think @marcusBMG has the right idea by attaching his sling to the lens foot. I'll have to look into that sort of solution.

I would add a safety tether to both of those systems. I have a buddy with the Black Rapid system, have his bolt fail at the tripod mount on his camera, but fortunately he did have a tether, soh is camera never hit the ground. I use the Peak Design Slide system and have had their anchors fail. My camera did hit the ground but was not damaged. I dislike having to tether the Peak Design Slide as it defeats the purpose of quickly removing the strap. But I don't trust their anchors. On the other hand I don't trust the Black Rapid system either. But I do like the ergonomics of the Peak Design system. So with a few added safety measures, I'll keep using it.

Item for Sale
Pentax K-5 Camera Body

Asking Price
300.00 USD

Item Location
San Rafael, California (United States)

Item Description
For Sale: My Pentax K-5 Camera Body. Shutter Count is 15,160. Body is in excellent condition but it's missing the lens release button (a known issue with the K-5 series of cameras K-5 lens release button awol - PentaxForums.com ), so I'm listing the body condition as "good." There are thread regarding DYI replacement of the lens release button, but I found just using a paperclip was as effective.

Included is the original box, battery, charger, manual, software, finder cover and strap. Also, included is my "lucky paperclip" for use in lieu of the OEM lens release button. Comes in arctic white :)

The K-3 is a great camera! You'll love it. And the ergonomics of the camera are similar to that of the K-5IIs, so you won't have a steep learning curve.

DFA 150-450 bag recommendations?

I use the ThinkTank StreetWalker Pro v2. I actually have two bags, one for my K-1 and 150-450 kit, and a separate one for my 15-30/24-70/100mm macro (and every other lens, filters, etc... under the sun) kit. I have a number of Lowpro, Canon, Ruggard, and Tamrac bags that I've used and stopped used, taking up space in my garage. I found the ThinkTank StreetWalker really works well for my purposes. I'd originally gotten it for international travel, it meets all the carry on requirements of a "personal" item. Found it really fit the K-1 and 150-450 combo well.

What cheap manual lens to pair with my new (to me) ME Super?

Yep. That's what came with my ME Super when I got it new back in 1980. I still use it when using my ME Super. The only lens I like better on it is my M20/4 but it's not "cheap" the way the M50/2 is.

Pentax K1 mk 2 lens question Pentax 15-30mm

The DFA 15-30 is an excellent fit with the K-1. I love the combination. Can't recommend it enough. I do use ND filters with it, with the Haida system as recommended above by @jatrax. Going to a 150mm system is pricey, there isn't much escape from that but for me well worth it. I love using the ND's with the lens. I have not invested in a CPL yet but I'm sure I will at some point. It's useless for sky given the wide angle aspect of the lens, but great for taking the shine off of surfaces in damp forest environments. It's on my list of "many things I need" (and on my wife's list of "many things I don't need" ha!).

I work in government, and we still use the microfiche reader for older records (pre 2006 is considered "older" in my work world). We often have "younger" folks come in looking for information, and it's a hoot watching the expressions on their faces when they're directed to the microfiche reader, LOL!!! Most think its an antique computer, and almost all ask how they login to the device. And it's an even bigger shock once they're shown how to use the thing :lol::lol: Almost makes it worth going to work in the morning

I agree. And I think the real reason the smart phone sales are slumping has more to do with the way they're marketed and sold these days, especially in the US. Long gone are the days of the "free" phone from service providers, or a small fee to upgrade to a smart phone. The new model is the monthly payment plan (a current model iPhone through my carrier is $45 a month for 24 months, that's $1010 without tax, insurance, etc! And even a cheaper phone at half that rate is still a lot of money), which adds up quickly. I think people are finally realizing they're paying way too much for a portable entertainment device. I'm a heavy smart phone user for work and life, and even I'm not willing to shell out big bucks (or Euros, or Yen or...) for overpriced tech. Both my kids, children of the smartphone era, have dialed back their devices from the "must have latest and greatest" iPhone or Android (now that they are responsible to fit the bill for their phones) to refurbished LG's that cost them about $25 out of pocket. I don't see smart phones going away but I think the current business model has run it's course.

What's your favorite 2008-2013 APS-C Pentax DSLR and do you still use it?

Boy! That's a tough call. They're all great in there own way, and especially for their time. Started with the K20d, amazing camera and sensor; moved to the K-5 and later the K-5IIs (definitely one of my favorites, another amazing camera); got the K-3, which though has a more advanced sensor, but it didn't wow me at first the way the K-5IIs did. I picked up a K-01 along the way (it became my favorite pocket camera with my FA31 on it) for along time before finally letting it go. So, in one sense they're all my favorites, for varying reasons, though ultimately it's probably a toss up between the K-5IIs and the K-3. There are other things, besides for the sensor, that makes the K-3 standout amongst my APS-c camera bodies. I'm about two years into K-1 ownership, so none of the APS-c bodies see much use from me these days, and my kit has gravitated to mostly full frame lenses (though I really do miss using my DA15, and I haven't let that lens go yet. The DA15 almost made me stay with the APS-c bodies. But you can't argue with 36 mp and the dynamic range that goes with the K-1, it is truly in a separate league, but I digress).

Mine came back as normal. No special login requirements, no user name change or password update. I change my passwords pretty regularly, so maybe the fact that I didn't have an old password didn't raise any red flags. One thing of note, back in 2011 when I created my account, I used my gmail email. Later Yahoo forced me to change it to a Yahoo email for my login. Maybe that there's still a gmail email associated with the account has made a difference. Just thinking out loud...
