Sorry to ruin the party but I did see a camo K-x on display at BicCamera when I was in Japan in January.

Didn't think to take a photo of it.. but had a laugh with the missus.

Don't even know if it is a model they sell or just for display.

Looking for a Arca-swiss type clamp that screws straight onto mono/tripod

Hi Paul

Thanks for your response..
Probably not with the manfrotto.. good idea but i might as well use my Q3.
That Ebay job could be the ticket.. nice and cheap.

-------------------------------------------------------------
Bimjo.. my markin q3 have a one piece forged ballhead that flares into the clamp assembly no way to get that working.

Yes my L plate has a screw mount for the horizontal orientation but there isn't one for the vertical.

-------------------------------------------------------------

SOldBear.. looks like i might try the ebay job before the Giotto.. but thanks for the suggestion.

Cheers

Hi all,

Probably a weird request....

Want to attach my Kirk L-plated K20 to a monopod for a light/simple setup. yes my markin Q3 is not that heavy but I would like to head out without it.

Does anyone manufacture the clamps to go directly on to a tripod/monopod screw?

Cheers

Sorry to hear of your problems with you 31 Joele,

As usual with any lens there are qc variations regardless of price... seems like you are unlucky there.

Which body are you using it with? I got lucky my copy works perfectly with both my K10D and K20D

I love my 31 enough to go on a 2 week trip with only that lens. granted forced to choose one due to back injury but it was my choice over the smaller 40mm or more versitile 16-50mm.
Its my favourite lens, now i just need to get the 77mm for a longer version of it :D.

I dont supposed CRK will grant you replacement since there are still problems?
Talk to Clem Kennedy, he seems very reasonable when I had problems in the past.

Good luck,

Shang

Guess its my turn to join the mega thread...

never did get to the end until today and have time to post.

I for one is very happy with the specs... the sync speed should be at 1/250 but if its at 1/180 it is not the end of the world... I suspect even if it is released at 1/180 there will be a firmware upgrade to enable 1/250. The shutter already upgraded will be capable of it.

I'll be upgrading from K10D at some stage... should be a fantastic camera.

Originally my travel plans would of put me in Toyko for th launch.. was really looking forward to it but not anymore... oh well.

Cheers

Yes... yes and yes.

I doubt any store in Sydney will have stock.. they generally have stock of the DA lmts but rarely FA Lmts.. They will have to order from CR Kennedy and get it brought in.

You can always call CRK and get them to price match the lowest price you can find shipped to AUS.. eg Adorama price +shipping..

Here is an paste from another forum where Malcom kennedy posted this.

QuoteQuote:

Thank you for your input.

Over the weekend, I did a price comparison between Australia prices and B & H.

In general, we are very competitive. There are 2 exceptions, DA* 200, DA*300 where B & H prices are actually below our landed cost.

I have referred these exceptions to Pentax Tokyo and are awaiting their explanation.

I think both lenses are old stock as Pentax USA has increased their prices due to currency movement.

Nevertheless, I will honour our commitment, I will supply through our dealer network -

Pentax DA* 200mm at $ 1,500 incl GST
Please contact sales@crkennedy.com.au.

Please note on Friday 24 April, we were advised by Pentax Tokyo of massive price increases.

DA 12-24 (+27%), DA 40 (+59%), DA* 16-50 (+24%), DA* 50-135 (+19%), FA 43 1.9 LTD (+72%), FA 31mm 1.9 LTD (+21%), FA 50 1.4 (+17%), FA 35/2 (+46%), FA 77 1.8 (+20%)

We will try and hold prices as long as we can, but it is important that Forum members understand that the increase in raw materials and smaller production runs means that the trend of ever decreasing prices for Imaging products is now over. Prices are only going one way and that is UP. This will be true for all brands.

BUY NOW.

Had a similar experience last year. Was in Japan shooting snow monkeys.. Temp was just above freezing and it started to rain... The only ones left was myself and a D2x shooter with a 70-200mm. The rest with a huge assortment of very expensive camera's and lenses ran for the shelter.

Had a great time...

just imaging the fun of manual focus different lenses that turn opposite directions to focus.

The new teasers have confirmed the mic ports and thus video functions... if AF works.. it will be a huge leg up on all the other DSLRs with video.

Faulty DA* 16-50mm ??

Does your aperture blades close correctly? does it move freely?

Check the shots in M mode... set aperture to the same values and change the aperture... does the picture in f2.8 look brighter than f5.6? if it works correctly it will and the problem may be a contact/camera issue reading the correct values. If it doesn't change it may be a problem with the lense...

Looks like a good choice... not the portable setup you were thinking of.... but if the wife says ok to a 50-135... can't complain about that can you... :D

Have fun with it... that lense is definitely on my future lense plan.

Ball head recommendation

I'm using a Markin Q-3... its my first ballhead.. and probably the last unless I get some giant lenses down the track and need something larger. By then it will probably a Wimberley Gimball.

I love my Q-3.. light holds all my lens/flash/macro setup steady admittedly the heaviest lense is my VL125mm.. so not an extreme setup by any means.
