True, but these are not entirely synonymous. You may counter the object you're shooting with light/color background spots, or so I think.

Counterpoint has a certain je ne sais qua; it’s one of those “I know it when I see it”
type of things that is hard to explain, and even harder to use effectively. Counterpoint
is loosely defined as an element of a scene that is set up in contrast to or relationship
with another element. For example, one element can be static and the other
motion-blurred, creating contrast between the two; contrast can also be achieved using
color, tone, or position. Or, the two elements can relate to one another, such as when
elements converge in a scene in a pleasing way. Counterpoint can be used to create
drama or tension in an image, or sometimes the exact opposite. Makes sense, right?

A powerful technique that was limited to landscapes in some previous Project52 years. Let's not limit ourselves and see if other fields may benefit from it too.

Project 52 P52-9-28 Technique - Fast Shutter

This week's theme would be opposite to slow shutter — fast.

from Wikipedia:
Very short shutter speeds can be used to freeze fast-moving subjects, for example at sporting events.
Excessively fast shutter speeds can cause a moving subject to appear unnaturally frozen. For instance, a running person may be caught with both feet in the air with all indication of movement lost in the frozen moment.

And I think strobe/flash could be used here to freeze the subject as well.

Project 52 P52-9-27 Technique - Slow Shutter

Pretty self-explanatory theme.

from Wikipedia:
Slower shutter speeds are often selected to suggest the movement of an object in a still photograph. Combined with panning the camera it can achieve a motion blur for moving objects.
When slower shutter-speeds, in excess of about half a second, are used on running water, the water in the photo will have a ghostly white appearance reminiscent of fog. This effect can be used in landscape photography.

For Week 26 we will compose our shots using a special lighting technique to create Sun Stars. Basically, we will be including the sun as part of our composition using a high f/stop.

Your wide-angle lens at its smallest aperture can turn the sun into a star in your photos — fitting, since the sun actually is a star. The effect occurs because the tiny aperture diffracts the incoming light rays a lot. This diffraction causes the star effect. You can include the sun as a compositional.

You've probably heard it a million times: “zoom with your feet!".
