Astro photographers help with K1 settings

To get pinpoint stars with high mp cameras 500 rule doesn't really work. I suggest downloading Photopills app, it has the pinpoint star calculator, as well as other very useful tools such as photo planner with ability to predict where milky way would be, what phase the moon is in, what time the sunset/sunrise is etc.

For my personal settings - at 15mm 2.8 I use iso 3200 and 10s exposures, and then stack them in Sequator for clean, bright exposures.

I stopped using astro tracer with wide lenses due to stars trailing in corners. Stacking works best for me personally.

I personally like really wide lenses, and built my kit around that. DFA 15-30 was a natural choice for me, so I decided to invest into the lens, and a filter system to support it. Although i do like to use longer lenses for landscapes too, but I'm still waiting for the ultimate solution for that :) (DFA 70-200 f4, please come sooner rather than later!)

Oof, that's quite a bit of cash to spend :) will take me some time to save up for all that gear. Is there an entry model I can get good results with? Would ioptron skytracker work with k-1 and a small telescope?

incredible! Can you share your process/equipment? I'd like to give deep space photography a poke as well, the first image is mind-blowing.

Could it act like discount on a purchase? I believe these companies sell used gear, might be a nice discount on a lens that was previously out of your range before)

Something different for a change, been shooting landscapes for too long. With DFA 28-105. One of those situations where with no IBIS i'd be going home with no images (lighting was extremely dim).

For full frame - DFA 28-105 with filters. Light, sharp, and weather protected. AF is fast and precise. Small travel tripod to complete the kit.

Doubt GR II has the same high iso performance as K5. Curious, could you share a 3200 iso raw taken with K5? I've never held the camera, would be interesting to compare to the K-1 files

Hmm, attractive. But I'm guessing it'll have a smaller guide number than the v860 II? I wish that flash was available for us too, maybe it will in time (they have Canikon, Sony, Fuji, and even Oly/Pana versions now, we're the only ones missing from the list)

I believe it will be usable with the XPro P, the link provided shows this flash among the supported models.

Godox v860ii - do they work with Pentax cameras?

I found an article on Godox R2 Pro-P trigger that supports hss and pttl. Checked their product page, seems it works with a bunch of their flashes, mainly with newer models, and especially with their more expensive studio kits. However, it works with the v860ii, which are fairly reasonably priced. I got excited, but searching on Google didn't give me any results for v860ii compatibility with Pentax cameras.

On v860ii product page Pentax is not mentioned, but they also don't mention the Olympus/Panasonic model that is available for sale. I guess they didn't update their website?

So, do they work with Pentax cameras or not?))

They'd probably change the naming of the ff line up though. Em1x suggests a super charged em1. I guess aimed at pro sports shooters and journalists.

I can see plenty of difference between my 16mp mft raws (3 years worth of images) and my 36mp ff raws. For my preferred field, dynamic range, tonal accuracy and increased resolution, as well as undeniably cleaner files even at base iso make much more difference than higher af speed, and other advantages of the mft system. I like the system, if I had enough spare budget to sustain two systems, I might consider it again for a lighter kit, but not in that position right now)
